Winter greens still at our place - have pretty much been that for 3-4 weeks now...My course was showing as 'Frost course' on BRS today, so expecting the same tomorrow with how cold it has been
Will be my first time hitting clubs in '26 but won't expect too much if conditions are the same

. I'm guessing more of the same tomorrow given how cold it is, too bad because I wanted to get in a couple more rounds before going back to work on monday.
(broke 100). Next goal is to break 95 by spring!Frost course, so all temp greens todayWinter greens still at our place - have pretty much been that for 3-4 weeks now...
Not hit a ball outside in weeks - no interest in winter greens and wind chill of -5!!
On a positive note - Not made a single bogie yet in 2026![]()

went to golf clubs for cash on Friday, certainly an impressive amount of stuff to look at. Managed to stop myself buying some wilson staff blades that i'm in no doubt i would be crap with but would look the part at least.
Played in low sun a week back, so hard to play, got one of my worst scores in a while, a little over 100. Just lost balls where i didn't see them leave the club. Long putting was good, short putting was abysmal.

. Cost myself any chance, after an ok front nine, when I racked up double figures at the tenth! NR'd at the last after thinning a wedge through the green and being unable to find my ball.
. At what point can you start calling yourself a mid handicap golfer?
, I couldn't leave my daughter out though so took her in the club shop and she got a nice green TaylorMade speedsoft ink ball bless herAt what point can you start calling yourself a mid handicap golfer?

I have been considering consolidating my 2 bags (carry bag for winter and trolley bag for summer) into a single bag and have been looking at the Callaway Fairway 14 range - there is a waterproof version as well as the non-waterproof oneOn Saturday my knackered old stand bag finally died so now need to get a new one and struggling to find one that ticks all the boxes really. I want light-ish but willing to sacrifice that to an extent for durability and maybe waterproofing/resistance, I want the straps to be easily removable for when I do use a trolley/buggy, I want a full size apparal pocket so I can keep a jacket/hat/bulky-ish stuff like that, and finally I want a stand like the Ping Hoofer (not sure how to describe it but where the base is split to trigger the legs rather than an external lever which makes trollers/buggies awkward). Doesn't seem too much to ask but had a scan around my local golf shop and couldn't see anything that ticked all the boxes... Any thoughts?

It has removable straps and what Callaway call their low-rider leg system that has the legs set lower than a normal bag so that it sits on a trolley without the legs interfering with anything

I am only going to have a couple of goals this year
First one could be difficult to hit as I want to try and set a new PB - Currently that sits at +1(73) at my home course, so I will have to shoot level par to hit that target
Main goal is to try and finish the year with my lowest handicap. Briefly got down to 5.0 but currently sitting at 6.6 due to a year of struggling off the tee. Working on my tee game over the winter so hopefully that will help
One of few highlights today as I struggled to find my swing all round.I am up for that, a little bit of friendly competitionLowest man at the end of the year for a sleeve of balls? Prov's? (handicap at 31st Dec)
