Samsung Galaxy S26 Family Thread

Out of interest will be interesting to see how much improvement is made on battery life considering the jump made from the Chinese brands this time round especially oppo find x9 pro and OnePlus 15

Well, I'm loving my Fold 7. The Ultra series has lost my interest. I gave my old S24 to my partner and you can't really tell it apart from the S22 she had before. Whereas the Fold 7 is another animal altogether and interesting and fun again to use. I strongly suspect the S26 will be much of a muchness to all the others.

Sounds like not enough improvements to step away from my S23+ then, A good thing really for my wallet but would be nice to see some decent spec increases, feels like innovation has slowed down a lot again.

It'll be really interesting to see how pricing pans out this time around, given that we seem to be slipping back to the covid'eqsue "shortages" of everything.

I don't miss my Z Fold 7, the outer screen is horrible, I just couldn't get around the lower dpi and narrow look of the screen, the Z Fold 8 Wide looks good, might be tempted to get that at the end of the year if prices are reasonable on contract. Cameras need a bit of work, the cameras on the Z Fold 7 were garbage in comparison to a bar phone, (S25 U, 15 Pro Max), needs to be less skimping on cameras.

They've still got my interest, simply because my S23U is starting to suffer battery aging noticeably; and additionally, as mentioned previously by MRK when he was talking about that Xiaomi, they still have better Digital Zoom, which I use.
I do have a Galaxy Watch, and use Samsung Pay (and digital key connectivity), so I wouldn't want to lose out there.

Part of the reason I went back to Samsung from Oppo previously was that Oppo had dropped the quality of the telephoto zoom lens, and I don't want to lose out there as I like to use my phone whilst travelling and better optical rather than digital zoom (especially with quick focus) can be quite important for getting the best shots.

It'll all be down to ultimate price, trade in offers when it launches and features once they finally confirm all the details.

Until they invent an unbreakable screen, I still see a need for a screen protector - it's personal preference and all that but for me it's just peace of mind that there's 1 layer before everything gets to the much more expensive screen.

I don't use screen protectors as I tried several and never managed to apply them properly. Too fiddly for me.

I use a hard case instead which covers the back + 4 sides. A few of these phones have hit concrete or tarmac at least once and no broken screens. The phone tends to land on a corner, cracking the case, so it just means a tenner for a new case.

I just want one pre-installed like my OP15 or not close to the trial and errors I went through to find a good one for my S23U.

We all know the S26 will not change very much, maybe the display on the Ultra will be noteworthy.

One thing that might save the 26 is the weight at 137g its even lighter compared to the Pixel 5 (note, some people think this is typo and it will be 167g)

I like that the Ultra is bringing back the rounded corners. The specs overall though is underwhelming when compared to my S23U in that it seems like an incremental update rather than a 3-year update. Unless the camera plays a kicker card, my only reason to switch S23U>S26U would be to have a battery that isn't half worn out and a few extra years of OS/security updates. You noticed that Samsung has gone the Apple route, a bit overboard with the colour choices? :p

I have to agree - I guess other than cameras getting a slight bump and CPU upgrade, there's not going to be a lot to shout about. The pre-order deals are going to have to be exceptionally good for me to jump ship from an S24U I think but from what has been leaked so far, it's said the deals won't be as good this time round due to memory increases.

Granted there's computational photography improvements and you don't have to upgrade your sensor every year, but having same ISOCELL HP2 mains sensor for 4th year in a row in a device that's meant to be top of the range isn't a good look.

I will be very interested if the S26 is under 140g.

However, if its the same weight as the S25, then I want a mega pre-order deal please!
