My ping is around 12-13ms, though that’s tested over WiFi (BT line) 1gb Aquiss.
Not overly bothered what it is really, don’t think it has much effect unless multiplayer gaming perhaps?

Update the ping has gone back up.. maybe I was connected via Manchester.
Just for clarity, we have not moved any existing circuits to Manchester and neither do we jump customers between Manchester and London (before anyone mentions that...we're not Zen you know lol)

Please provide some IPs/sites and pop a ticket into support so we can investigate. It could be off our side, but I would still prefer that the team check.

Hi Martin .. its Stewart from Dundee Scotland.. contacted you before about pings... was caught off guard when i seen a 5ms drop in ping..websites and even game servers. from 20ms to 14ms .. wasnt expecting to see a lower ping but for some reason my ping was lower. i just assumed somhing had changed from your end lol. but tested this morning and it was back up.

According to their service updates, there's a Manchester gateway now and they're looking for CityFibre subscribers in Scotland to volunteer to be moved to it

Will hold off for now whilst it's being tested, assume once testing is done they'll start migrating 'northern' customers to Manchester automatically?

FWIW I'm getting these updates from https://whatsapp.aquiss.net/ which is where they post any outage notifications, I'm not sure where I'd have seen this detail if I wasn't looking in there. I assume that new customers will be allocated to gateways based on geography and maybe existing ones will be emailed with the option to move. The Aquiss connection that I manage is in Leicestershire so there's nothing to be gained by routing via Manchester.

As per their WhatsApp group it's looking like they are ready for full release.

*CityFibre Scotland & Northern England based customers*

Testing from yesterday's announcement has gone perfectly for dozens of customers today, so we are expanding things to full release.

We are now looking for Scottish and Northern England customers (regardless of time with us) to come forward, so we can move you from termination in London to that of Manchester. This should greatly improve your latency at the LNS (moves so far are seeing circa 5ms improvement). Downtime during the NNI switch will last circa "3 minutes" whilst systems update to change the NNI endpoint.

Those who wish to take part in the change, please can you email [email protected] so we can get some batches prepared.

Just for clarity, we are not testing. The Manchester NNIs have been live some weeks now. We have merely been working on scripting into CityFibre APIs, so we can move customers with more freedom. We just wanted to collect more data and make sure things were working under more volume, both now obtained.

Everything is working as expected so we are increasing the volume of traffic into those NNI points. The switching is taking circa 34 seconds on average from API call, for CityFibre to process it and termination priority updated.

Sent ticket in to get moved over to Manchester from London (if eligible)

Edit: Martin replied late afternoon, switched me over. Can't say I've noticed any difference this evening with my usual browsing / gaming habits which is a good thing.

I was switched yesterday afternoon. Switched to a Manchester based DNS (Quad9), pings are down from 12ms to 8ms.

Speedtests to Youfibre Manchester was bouncing off 1200mbps whereas previously it would hover around 1100mbps.

Steam downloads are showing 140MB/s, previously 130MB/s.

Day to day there probably won't be much difference.
