Surely if you get in a 'bog standard' EV, it wouldn't be that much better? Or is that pretty much the only thing EVs have over ICE cars (in terms of drivability) is that even low powered ones are relatively quick?
Of course not, but the point is most ICE cars aren’t renowned for their epic handling and driving experience either.

Also they are not necessarily faster, but tend to deliver the power in a more consistent and predicable manner with a smoother driving 'experience' due to this.
Are you against people who buy bog standard cars having a nicer time while driving them doing their daily duties?
I find it odd that you push EV so hard and claim they can do everything better, yet you seem to hide the fact you still have an ICE. Why haven't you replaced that with an EV?
Experience? No EV comes close to a 8500rpm V8 for an enthusiast. Imagine that. Someone with different requirements of a car to yours

Perform better how?
What would you say is better performing comparing a 'bog standard' 1.2 Corsa to an EV Corsa?
(btw I'm not saying this in an arguing back tone, just generally curious)
Plus, I guess this comes down to two camps, classic 'petrol heads' (people who enjoying driving and the experiences, and people who simply see cars as a mode of transport and nothing more (like my Mum).
I guess it's just the refinedness with the EV. I imagine it's likely to get up to speed a lot easier than the ICE and then especially if you're with a rubbish driver, you've got more linear power delivery rather than having people constantly in the wrong gears jerking around all over the place.
The petrol is 100ps and manual while the EV is 136ps, so even with the increased weight the EV will be quicker. But then it's also significantly more expensive.

hmmmmm not entirely convinced. Sounds like ICE is more an issue if someone can't drive.
Again not having a dig, just really didn't get the 'don't miss ICE cars' reference.
I'm sure as an 18 year old again, I'd prefer to drive a 1.2 Clio (which I had), revving the nuts off it (while going nowhere) rather than a milk float humming away (maybe going a bit quicker).

oh and on that point......what would insurance be on a new driver for an EV? What would be equivalent of an EV 'first car'? (for most people, not loaded families) A 10 year old Leaf? or 1st gen EV?

I think the general thought is driving a regular EV is like driving a regular ICE car in 3rd all the time up the rev range in the power band. You've always got maximum poke available any time rather than having to row through the gears to have any get up and go.
So driving a 130bhp EV feels far more spritely and enjoyable than a 130bhp petrol car to most drivers.

To be fair, there's plenty of naff or average EV's, same as ICE car. That Peugeot E-2008 thing I had to drive for a few weeks was rubbish.
But even that had 150 BHP, which is 50% more power than a 1.2 Corsa.

Likewise I've just done the same, it was also well priced on my company car scheme so I've hit the button and all being well they will get it ordered (always a bit of a lag here and had some issues before so not a given), then sort out the logistics of changing over my current car at the same time.
I've decided to get a price to buy my MG4 from them too, will be interesting to see how that looks given the tanking in value they've taken from new

Finally got somewhere with OHME and my troublesome Home Pro charger. After a month or so of being fobbed off with them "tweaking" the sim settings which achieved nothing they emailed me on Monday and wanted photo's of the charger from the front and underneath showing the wiring, the charger's breaker, the house main fuse, Junction box and distribution board which I sent within ten minutes of their email. Yesterday I got a message from them saying that they are sending a engineer to repair or replace my charger and he will contact me to make a appointment. All this time it has felt like I have just been banging my head against a wall and they have finally decided to do something. It will be nice to actually use the charger again because I am fed up using the granny charger which isn't quite long enough and I have to park the car up against the fence partly in my front garden.
Hopefully your issues will be resolved one way or another, something they should have done ages ago. Poor CS unfortunately....

My Ohme charger stopped working near Xmas, had an undervoltage issue. Ohme remoted on to my charger and saw it was having an undervoltage issue, they wanted me to get onto Northern Powergrid to enable monitoring of my local substation power to see if NP were having issues, i tried explaining that if my house was only being supplied with 90-100v then pretty much everything would be out of action, and that 4 other houses in the street all had EV chargers working fine, they were insistent on it! I left it a couple of days and then got back in touch with them and said NP said all was ok. They sent out an installation company who diagnosed that the breaker/isolater had got water damage from not being installed correctly (the holes drilled in the plastic casings of the meter cabinet and the breaker hadn't been sealed to stop water ingress) so i would need to pay for a repair, when i pointed out they had installed it (proof of installation certificate) it got replaced for free. Straight back up and running.

True, but I've had my Ohme charger for over 5 years now, and it's survived a house move and still works fine including full sim functionality.
It's rare for them to go wrong.

Thanks, they've ordered both sides and ars doing it at my home, downside is I have to wait til may time.
I've got cleverly ev coming out a week on Tuesday for the end of warranty inspection as I've only got until September or maybe 2k miles before I hit the end of warranty

Had a call from the engineer around 30 minutes ago and he can't make it until the 24th, two weeks tomorrow!! Great, another two weeks of using the granny charger.
