I think I might have ****** up, off the bat I have always had and been fully insured to drive any car I own, I’m in the process of buying a new car and took my private plate off on Saturday and put the car’s original plate back on ready for the change, but completely forgot to update my insurance policy done it this morning as soon as it occurred to me, does that mean I’m uninsured and likely to get prosecuted for driving without insurance, I went past a police speed camera van(at the speed limit) yesterday, am I likely to get a NIP how would I go about making sure they are aware I’m insured.

Speak with your insurance company, explain what happened and see what they say.

You won’t be the first nor last person to have made this mistake, I’d guess they’d treat it as an administrative error as they are still effectively covering the same car.

I’m surprised you didn’t ask when updating the policy, in a situation like this being up front and honest is I’d say your best approach.

As for the police camera van, I’d be surprised if anything came of it, to my (limited) knowledge Patrol cars have ANPR cameras linked to the MID but not camera vans.

I’m with Aviva Zero, it’s all on line, I did phone aviva and they did say I would be insured but I was worried the police wouldn’t see it that way

As long as Aviva are happy to say you've been covered then you'll just need to tell the police that if anything comes of it but I doubt it will

Doesn't really matter what the police think as long as your insurance company still considers it valid.
