I watched 2 minutes of that and I am sold. I loved Returnal but found it very hard, though I did somehow manage to get to the end. I was only on the fence with this because do I really want that kind of difficulty again. Sounds like they have built a better game of an already great one so I’m happy to roll with it. Let’s go Housemarque!

Not that it is any surprise to anyone given my post history, but Saros is day one for me and likely going to be my GOTY.

Or that is to say I hope it will be. Looking at the footage, I have very high hopes for this.

Less than a week to go! Jump, dash, jump, dash, jump! :p

Likewise, it's a day one purchase for me. I very rarely pre-order games, other than perhaps mainline Zelda/Mario titles on Switch, but Returnal is one of my all-time favourites so I'm prettty hyped for Saros!

Speaking of pre-orders Currys' have it for £58 currently (£65 with a 10% pre-order discount).

If anyone finds it cheaper let me know!

The Game Collection has the remake of Black Flag for £45 with triple reward points. For anyone that cares about physical games.
That's a better price. I was surprised they whacked it to full price for release so I'll wait a bit.

Saros : IGN review is in <drumroll> ......

7/10

:D

Most of the reviews seem to reckon it's at least on par with Returnal and I loved that so happy to take a punt on Saros at launch. With it being a PS5 exclusive and a Sony first-party title I can't see the price dropping much lower than ~£50 even if I wait a few months.

Yup, IGN is very much the odd one out thus far. And yes, this won’t be on a deep sale for at least a year or longer.

Apart from IGN haha their reviews have been terrible for so long now, marathon scored 9/10

Bought a ps5 pro digital despite what I said earlier with it being a waste as I have a high end PC.
I have bought demon souls which shocked me on the price of the store at £45 which apparently is on offer lol.
I have to say the game looks great on my TV and has reminded me couch gaming does have it's place.

Is there any basic tips for owing a playstation I should be aware of. I see I need a sub to play online which I won't bother with as I'm only into single player games. There's also a ps plus membership, that any good?

Been playing it for a couple of days and it’s a definite 8 or 9/10 from me. Most reviews that I’ve seen have been pretty positive. Possibly marmite for some - you either love or hate extraction shooters - but I am loving it.

Tip 1. Get a drive and used games. Paid 18 quid for demon souls.

PS Plus is the subscription service and comes in 3 tiers - essential, extra and premium. All of these give access to online play and cloud saves. Extra and premium offer a larger library of games. If you aren't fussed about online play ( or cloud saves ) then you can give PS Plus a miss. Personally I like having the security of cloud saves which is why I have subscribed to the essential tier. There is some value in subscribing to Extra or Premium if you don't own many ( or any games ) - but once you start buying physical or digital copies on sale etc the value diminishes with time, imo.

As @kona786 mentioned, buying physical discs can be far cheaper than digital. So yes, I would recommend picking up a disc drive. Demon Souls, for example, can frequently be found for under £30 on Amazon etc ... same for other titles.

My only other recommendation is to go into settings and disable all comms / messages from people you don't know. Unlikely to be an issue since you don't plan to play online games, but even so there are some trolls who try and bait people into a war of words in order to get their account suspended or banned.

Also, when buying digital games, in order to save some cash, use key sites like Loaded.com, Shopto etc to pick up some discounted PSN vouchers eg. a £100 voucher can often be bought for around £90. Sometimes you can find PS Plus keys for a reduced price too.

In all fairness I do find this part very fun when you get a message from someone who is clearly going through the ringer.

Yup, but if they report your response you run the risk of a suspension. And Sony perceive almost anything as harassment. It's really not worth the risk communicating with anyone you don't know. If your account gets banned then you lose everything.

Anyone bought the quietly released in late January '26 Speedball for their PS5?

Wondering how it plays for 1v1?

Does it support co-op 2 player online?

Currently on offer on PlayStation store for £14.99, equalling lowest pc price to date.
