RIP Sir Patrick Stewart

And now I’m sad.
It’s possible to commit no mistakes and still lose. That is not weakness. That is life.

And because it’s always important to remember the good times with people we liked, and be thankful for the time they were here:

This is hitting me harder than I expected. I'm not one to get upset over a celebrities death, of someone I don't know, essentially, but Star Trek was foundational for me growing up. I don't really know what else to say, I can't even say oh he got a long life (which he did) because it's never enough, is it?

Damn. While I was never a big Trekky, I do have a lot of fond childhood memories of TNG.

Not only a hugely talented actor with a massive range, from Hollywood blockbusters as Professor X, to games as Uriel Septim, from high brow Shakespearean stage plays to completely unserious cartoons like American Dad and cameos in Family Guy, but also by all accounts a genuinely decent bloke. While any death is obviously sad, definitely feeling this as one of the bigger losses :(

Same, I read that it was a very quick form of dementia, rapid decline In months.

Obviously not what you'd wish on anyone, but maybe a blessing in disguised when compared to potentially years of lingering deterioration with slower acting forms :(

I'll always remember a drunken discussion with my best mate walking home and we were talking about who would be the X-Men a good few years before the first film was released. We didn't hesitate in both naming him but it was a great surprise to see him get the role as Hollywood can often ignore the obvious choice.
