An investigation is being launched over claims that police corruption helped shield the killers of black teenager Stephen Lawrence from conviction.

I dont know if you guys was aware of the racist killing of a south London black teenager, anyway there is a new evidence the bbc belive it all part of a cover that never lead to the solving of the case.

Iirc, this murder investigation was what lead to the public enquiry that found the police being guilty of "institutional racism". Anyway i thought i share this with you guys. The programme is on tonight on bbc Newsnight.

A former corrupt police officer-turned whistle blower also gave some info to bbc as part of the new evidence. Perhaps after 13years the case will be finally solved.

RIP Lawrence. :(

Eh!? This was on last night! Not sure it was BBC1 though, so could be a repeat tonight.

The police force openly admitted he was a bent copper too and said you couldnt trust a word that came out of his gob!

Still very sad so long after the event too.

Really, i can swear it is on tonight isnt?

EDIT
Just listening now, it is on tonight on bbc2 newnight.

Stephen Lawrence (September 14, 1974 – April 22, 1993) was a black British teenager living in London, UK, who was murdered in April 1993 at the age of 18.

While waiting at a bus stop with his friend Duwayne Brooks, he was attacked by a group of young white males and stabbed to death. Such attacks had happened previously, but this time widespread publicity attracted national attention that threatened civil disturbances and severely damaged relations between the Afro-Caribbean community, police and justice system.

More background info available on wiki http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Stephen_Lawrence

Sick to the hind teeth of it all.
I is a sad thing that someone should be killed on the street, and I feel for his family. But how can dragging it up every few months for this many years possibly help?

If only it was sorted 13years ago, then there wont be any need for it coming up all the time. Iirc the parent split up as a result of the murder case etc. The real victims here is the family.

I think it is good in way this keeps coming up, imagine if no one says anything since 93...This new allegation might not come out (possibly)

It appears it might have been Panorama I watched.

interestingly, I think there is also a program on tonight called 'Black Britain' on BBC2. Is that the same thing?

Oh i see.

It is on at 2230 on BBC. I just check the guide but cant find any program on Black Britain....Maybe it is a regional programme or something.

If it was a white bloke who got killed none of this would be happening nor would it keep getting dragged up.

Hardly an idiotic comment. While the corruption isn't proven it seems to me that dragging it up every few months in the news can't be doing the guys family any good at all.

Idiot.

Cmon guys, enough with the attacks eh? No point getting sussed over it.

Penalized?

I don't believe anyone was ever convicted.

Davidson told me that he was looking after Norris and that to me meant that he was protecting him, protecting his family against arrest and any conviction

"From my conversation that I had with John Davidson on that day, I would say that John Davidson was receiving cash from Clifford Norris by his expression that he was using it was, he was getting a little earner out of it - it was a good little earner.

"That, in my mind, was corrupt practices."

Hardly concrete evidence for corruption in the force is it ?

Really? You know that do you?

Or is it a standard, specious, 'OMG, PC gone mad!' response?

No, which is why there'll be an investigation by the IPCC. If it was concrete evidence things would be much further along already.

If you read on the fact that money is involved I'm sure would make a big difference.

PC witchhunt? Rubbish. Absolute rubbish.

If there's any kind of suspicion of wrongdoing it needs to be investigated.

This is also on tonight

The Boys Who Killed Stephen Lawrence
Wed 26 Jul, 9:00 pm - 10:00 pm 60mins

Reporter Mark Daly investigates Britain's most famous unsolved murder - the racist murder of black London teenager Stephen Lawrence in 1993. Daly presents compelling new evidence which fundamentally challenges the alibis of the five main suspects and reveals that police corruption helped shield the killers from conviction.
