Fuel Calculations..

Now this is doing my head in.. I want someone just to confir with me over my calculations on how much im likley to spend a week on Fuel..

I will be travelling 40 miles a day.
My car should get around 30 ish MPG, Maybe more.
Average price for Petrol is 88p.
4.5 Litres is in 1 Gallon. And I will prolly use around 5 Litres a day.

A grand total of £4.50 a day? times by 5 days = £22.50

Correct?

2 gallons = 7.4 litres so you'll use roughly 1.5 gallons a day?

1.5 gallons = 5.67 litres

5.67 x 88p = £4.98

I think... :rolleyes:

(That's all going on you using 5 litres a day by the way.)

^^ 3.7 isn't correct for anywhere, certainly not a UK or a US gallon.

edit:
1 US gallon = 3.7854118 litres
1 Imperial gallon = 4.54609188 litres

probably best to use UK gallon (4.54L) as opposed to use gallon (3.79L)

I'm surprised - it was on UK so I would have thought it'd convert properly.

My bad, it did tell me "1 US gallon = " but I missed that bit.

I made a spreadsheet not so long ago for my car, i'll use it as an approx to yours...

going on the bases of 30 MPG (my car) and 84p a litre (thats how much it is here ATM)

40 miles is about £6
£6 x 5 = £30

hmm doesent sound right, to your calculations people

Around £30.. not too bad I suppose...

I got a job interview a bit closer to town and more money tomorrow.. and if I get offered that.. ill be taking that as its only 7 miles there and 7 miles back a day... and a lot more interesting..

Click on the link for the calculation in Google Calculator. The difference is that Google uses about 10 decimal places for the volume of a gallon instead of just 4.5.

Google calculator rocks. :cool:
