not fun solution = call the council. they're obligated to remove it for H&S reasons.

No - in a confined space like that, with the heat of decomposition, maggots will develop quite nicely thank you. Once it's exposed tot he open they'll slow down a lot though.

One idea? Leave it. It'll be bones in a week our two, and much less messy. Otherwise, have you tried the council? Some offer such a service.
