Irritable Bowel Syndrome,

The doctor diagnosed me with it when i was 15 i think, and i'm now 19.

Its gradually got worse, and basically i'm after someone to talk to on MSN about it.

Its ruining my life and i want to know how people cope with it :)

Loads of stuff available on the web, support groups etc, these forums have to steer away from medical discussions presumably for legal reasons, so probably not the best place to ask.

I suffer from it occasionally when in stressful situations, like exams or job interviews.

My girlfriend on the other hand suffers from it big time, it can make her physically ill :(

You have the collective knowledge of the human race at your fingertips. A single search with your favourite search engine will tell you what you need to know.

There is a member on here, who I think suffered from IBS - he's a regular poster in the hardware forums. Bledd I think he is called.

*finding his thread...oh wait...search is disabled!*

Yes,

Got diagnosed a few months back and it isn't very pleasent. The Codeine based medication makes me feel drunk and my diet is now super boring.

I am trying to live with it myself and it isn't easy.

Its not realy a medical thread guys :)

I just want someone off here to talk to about it, rather than sign up to other places.

Its not just stomach cramps, its more like stomach cramps which mean you have to rush to the toilet..

Not realy much fun where your out in the middle of nowhere or down town with your mates.

I know the hymn sheet you're singing from - my sister had to have a colostomy bag, and have her main/lower (I forget which) bowel removed. Not a pleasant time, because she had to have a blood transfusion, too. :(

I very nearly had a colostomy in 1988 but instead I don't get much warning when I need to go the toilet. One minute I don't want to go and the next get out of my way. It is very rare that I fart because if I did then its possible I could have an accident. Not nice but I've lived with it for 19 years.

How ?? :)

I'm almost thinking of leaving my job because of this IBS, sometimes i have to drive somewhere or go and work out on site where there are no toilets.

Maybe i should discuss it with the boss and tell him that i no longer want to travel or work out on site.

1 in 3 people suffer from it. I do and take medication for it as an when I need too. Sometimes before every meal, if i'm having a good spell maybe not for a few months.

Everyones is different, can be diet or stress causing it.

They will give you tablets for that, for those times. It can be a pain but the doctors will trial and error you some tablets and will get you sorted. :)

Thanks :)

I have to go back to the doctors in a weeks time, so i will discuss this " Medication " with him there :)
