Just found a copy of Deus Ex IV that came with my graphics card a while back. Is it worth installing? Never played a deus ex game before.

Cheers,

Kris

Hi, I am wondering about this as well, as deus ex can be had cheap atm and Im thinking if its worth getting it.

And yesterday i read a post saying something about a high res texture pack?

Its fairly ordinary. It doesnt compare to the originals storyline/gameplay at all. It does look better than the original, but by todays standards it doesnt look the best.

Good game. First one better though - came second only after half life a few yrs ago (1st in my eyes). High res pack for DE1 I believe. Play it!

It's a really good game. Give it a go.

Then go back and play the original and realise why everyone goes on about them ruining a classic. :)

The original was an absolute classic, THE BEST single player game ever made. The sequel was good, but nothing in comparison.

The original is one of the greatest games of all time. The followup is distinctly average. The first game had a great storyline with meaningful choices woven into it. The second one shoves it all down your throat and falls flat on its face.

I personally didn't really enjoy this tbh.

Story line is pretty poor, graphics is terrible (even at that time) and the AI is non-existent. There are numerous endings but at least 3 of those depend on decisions made in the last chapter.. so you can end the game one way, go back half an hour to a previous save and make a different decision. Then you have another ending and so on.... In other words, what you do during the course of the entire game doesn't really have an impact of the final outcome.

There are plenty of other decent games that are worthy of your time. S.T.A.L.K.E.R. is a much better game imo.

Are you talking about Invisible war?

Gotta agree with the general feeling here, good game, well worth installing, but apart from the graphical improvements, it wasnt as good as the original...

If you've never played Deus Ex then you'll probably enjoy IW, its not a bad game in its own right, it just doesn't stand up to the majesty and sheer genius of the original.

Yes, Invisible war.. Not the original which was a far better game :)

lol ok thats alrite i thought you were talking about the original which is a great game.

Play IW first - you may well enjoy it.

Then play the original and prepare to lose anything resembling a life until you have completed it!

Yeah really good game back in the day.
The graphics are still ok too as they use shaders well.
I've completed this game twice.
Its a bit munchy for the graphics card, but a modern day card should eat it alive.

I say try the first game before IW. If your first experience of steak is a thin bit of burned frying steak, you might be less inclined to sample a piece of fillet steak at a later date.

I know what I'm talking about anyway :D

That applies equally to the original though. In fact probably more so. In the original you get to choose which ending you get right at the last moment. What is great however is that your actions throughout the game have quite a big impact on how things play out, even if it does end up the same at the end.

I disagree - play IW first and then you won't be disappointed :)
That's what I did, meaning that I went into it with an open mind and thus was able to judge the game on merit rather than constantly comparing it to the original :) It's a good game IMO.

Although to be fair, some of the storyline would probably make more sense if you play Deus Ex first.

The original Deus Ex is one of my top five games. It really is that good.

Invisible War made me want to weep, though I suppose it would be an alright game on its own if you haven't played the first one to compare.
