How to talk to girls

I'm a little socially inept, and have a big problem with talking to girls. What exactly should I talk about when I meet one, say, in a club or bar? I'm thinking if I start talking about my latest build, it may kill my chances. Should I try to be funny, or just act casual? What has worked for you?

Say hi and ask how they are? Perhaps offer to buy them a drink?

Just talk! They're not a different species. If they're not interested in what you're interested in, then surely it's important to find that out from the off?

im by no means an expert but I would say listen much more than you talk (IE let her talk most). Even if she bores you to death act like you give a crap about what she says

If you can make a girl laugh then your half way there, but dont try to hard. Also show a bit of cheekiness they love it but dont be arrogant, allways worked and still works for me today.

Just be yourself, no point in trying to be someone you are not. If she doesnt like your real self then sod her. It will be a constant act otherwise.

Act cool, be at ease, make a joke about things.

Seriously though, I find it best to chat at the bar, don't like the idea of walking up to someone and striking up a convo, If i see someone I like I wait for them to go to the bar and go aswell, then strike up a convo whilst waiting, a lot more casual and less expectation.

My problem is that when I'm sober I wanna meet a girl etc etc but don't have the confidence, when I'm drunk I have the confidence but don't take it seriously or just cba and rather bust out a few shapes on the dance floor with mates.

We also sometimes strike up a conversation with a stupid opening statement and see if the girl still engages you, something along the lines of

"Excuse me, did you know that badgers don't float?"
"Excuse me, did you know that there are no dutch elm trees left in britain? disgusting!!"

Tbh writing that down it doesn't sound funny but we have a laugh with it when drunk ;d

Don't bother with a Bar or Club (In that respect).

Join a sports or interests club that has socials and make friends with some of the girls there, if not charming them yourself. Go out with some male friends and some of their girl friends. Just chat and realise they are not so bad to speak to
