Except the British Empire didn't really "invade" India at all.

LOL!!! you must be of the same class where Muslims claim there was no holocaust :p

Men were beaten and taken against their will as slaves. Women were raped...the rich farm land was systematically overtaken by white farmers, the people were surpressed and the Countrys resources were channeled to the British Government, I could go on and on... In fact it wasn't dissimilar to what the British were doing in Africa, kidnapping, using Liverpool docks as part of the process etc, and elsewhere in the world.

India managed to get their Indepedence only just over 50 years ago now, and they had to make up a lot of ground, but they are doing it well, witness the rise in economic power they now have after the shackles were set free...although make the visit and the scars of 150 or so years of neglect is still widely visible.

My roots are from India, and I have secondary hand evidence of what actually went on. I don't despise the British Government now though for what happened back then, because thats just the way life was then, gladitorial-esque. But some people do find it difficult to let it go like the Welsh, Scots, Europeans etc, who will always have it in for the British for their past actions in the building of the Great British Empire. Some say they are paying for it now ;) what goes around comes around I guess (eerily true imo)...

As for the Sikhs/Khalistan, they should have been given their own state too, but they were too politically nieve. AFAIK the Politician representing Sikhs at the time was just a teacher and wasn't ruthless enough.

It wasn't, it just triggered a thought. History does repeat itself. People who resent the British activity in India live here, spot the hypocrisy. Eventually the British might want to kick those "invaders" out of their country. History turns a full circle.

Arr, now i understand :) ta.

I'm a Sikh and from an unbiased point of view, no, Sikhs will not become the "most feared people in the world". That is ridiculous. The reason the Sikh's want their own country is because they feel they are being treated unfairly. In India, a lot of them do get bullied. Women raped, men beaten and killed. If they move to Pakistan, same thing happens there. I'm not saying the Hindu's or the Muslims are to blame for picking on Sikhs when the Sikhs do the same and beat men, women and children. If it is in retaliation or in a first act of aggression I’m not sure. However, things are calming down. The Sikhs, Muslims and Hindu's are starting to get along a lot more since the last 30 years. But the Sikh's require their own sacred land to practice their own religion the way they want.

Well you could ask who started the cycle ?

If the day comes these immigrants take over British government by military rule then you have a point :)

and Isn't immigrants just influxing the country a form of poetic justice

Theres a long way to go though where these immigrants will take the estimated 11 trillion dollars that Britain took from India in todays money.

Good God man, have you never been to Glasgow?

its where i stay and me and my boys are feared by every nightclub bouncer in glasgow, there is only 1 nightlcub that will let us in, we have been knocked back from clubs over 500 times and we are given stupid excuses like, your not dressed smart enough when im wearing jeans and a top and they just let a caucasian into the club in front of me and he was wearing a hoody and a rucksack,

can anyone explain why Punjabi's arent allowed into any nightclub in glasgow unless they know the bouncers? its because they know if anyone messes with us they are gonna have to try and control us and we gonna tear them a new one

I'm going to guess you're a Sikh. I'm also a Sikh. Being a Sikh surely you should realise the Guru Ji’s teachings of non violence and non provocative behaviour?

Perhaps its because you lot cant handle your drink and end up causing more trouble than needed??. Thats what i have noticed everytime i go to a punjabi type gathering...im punjabi muslim btw and ive noticed the sikhs are the most rowdiest lot in there...not that i mind really, just find ever so amusing tbh to see them strutting around acting like they own the place. But whats more satisfying is seeing them knocked down a few pegs:D.

Thankfully my sikh mates arent as ignorant as you nor are they trouble makers...hell they dont even drink and have been accused of not being proper sikhs:rolleyes: lol.

Do you honestly think it's a good thing for a large group of people to be feared?

Especially when this group resides in a nation where the indigenous group far out numbers them.

Well said and mucho kudos to you mate:)...frankly it makes me sick to see muslims, hindhu's and sikhs fighting amongst each other...i find it sad that we cant get on with each other...but recently it seems like things are getting slightly better ie having been to India and Pakistan on business in the past...its clear to see that things are slowly getting better between the 2 nations. Although its still a long way to go though before things get really better but at least theres a conscious effort being made on both sides to cool down the tensions.

Sounds rather similar to our cities and towns being overtaken by immigrants in England :)

And they have beenfitted enormously from the unifying effect of British rule along with the systems of law and govt along with the infrastructure that the British put in place, just as we did after the Roman invasion. Without which doubtless India would remain a fractured collection of warring princedoms and religions.
I wonder how India would have fared under Dutch or French rule. Something that would certainly have happened had the British not been militarily stronger.

But it rarely makes just one cycle :)

Incidentally why is a Sikh who has such issues with Britian living here?

The British must have had issues with Britian if they wanted to rape the whole world and wasnt content with what they had...

Now you are always screwing about leechers of society, immigrants, cost to the tax payer.....etc etc etc

What goes around comes around ;)

India did not have a Govt to take over though did it :)
Who started the cycle of warring factions in India prior to the British ever setting foot there? Indians? :)

Poetic justice? LOL. Will it be poetic justice if the natives get fed up with it as the indians did then?

I'm sure that Indias net worth as a result of British rule will far surpass whatever you think it was worth. Remember that indian tea had zero value to the indian people as they had zero means of selling it to anyone. What you have is only of "worth" if you have a market for it. Failing that it is just a waste of resources.
British people coming over there and creating jobs and work and global markets? Isn't that what we are supposed to like about immigration :)

Now "you" are?
So you aren't British then?

ROFL. Are you alpha?

Werent India a relatively sucessful nation prior to colonisation?

I for one believe partition was bad for the region, whilst the Brits werent totally to blame, they didnt help matters.

Just think how good the cricket team could have been :p

I dunno why people care tbh, move on, its happened, done dusted and that palava.I still cant understand all the differences, our families best friends over the last 30 years have bee Sikh (we are muslim) and we have so much in common, same for the Hindu's we know. There is much more that unites people than what divides them, so why then do we always concentrate on the differences :(

It depends upon what you mean by successful. India is a beautiful and rich, fertile land. So people living there had plenty to be happy about. However it was never a trading nation, it had no Navy, no international links of its own making, it had no unified govt or representation. If left to its own devices it would have been fine but wouldn't last 2 seconds in todays global world.

Werent they one of the first nation to do trade 'abroad' with places like China etc, i wouldnt have thought a Navy was P1 as they can travel over land pretty easy?

Edit,i was thinking of China :p
