Hi fella's i dont want to be the guy who starts a massive flame thread so can we keep it civil PLEASE. but i jus got my ps3 on friday....and i'm lost for words. I have spent extensive time on a uni flatemates 360 and all i can say is they are in separate leagues (in my opinion) The PS3 presents an all round multimedia system. Its just such a complete package...whereas if next september Microsoft turned around and said here is our new console i wouldnt be surprised. It just seems as though the 360 is a games console and the PS3 is a games console + 1. The price really does reflect what you get inrelation to the 360 and i've read many a thread which cites the lack of games on the console, but we are agreed it's a temporary situation. I'm blown away but all the individual features the console has and its inclusion of the Blu-ray player is just a further bonus. I want to make it clear im not bashing the 360 its a great console with some great games.......its just....well the PS3 is better (in my humble opinion)

I agree with most of what you said:)

One question though... If the PS3 is a games console +1, where are the must have titles for it?

Which its always been, Microsoft have never tried to sell it as more than a games console. Thats the problem with the PS3, its trying to be too many things at once. If i wanted a blu-ray player then id go and get a separate one, not one thats trying to sell itself as a games console. I have no intention of buying the Microsoft hd dvd player either, again if i wanted one id go and buy a separate one.

Thats where i think Sony have failed in respects, its been quite some time now that the PS3 has been released and as of yet...there isnt much out compared to what the 360 has in its catalogue.

Obviously for some it fits the gap nicely ie having a blu ray player already incorporated but along with that comes a high price...which up till now i wouldnt and couldnt justify.

It has games, who said they need to be 'must have'? Actually to him they might already be 'must have' but to you they're not, it's a matter of personal opinion isn't it. This thread will turn into flame once certain Trolls stumble on it anyway.

It's a games console. To me that necessitates it having games I want to play. Its roster of games is nowhere near deep enough to appeal to a lot of gamers.

The PS3 is a better console for what you get.

But i have more fun on the 360 at the moment.

Nicely said, The way I see it, If the PS3 had 360s titles. Sony would be pretty much set, Unfortunately it doesnt :p

I love the PS3, And the up and coming titles for it, look fantastic. 360s current and up and coming titles look fantastic.

It's a case of, The consoles improve as they grow. Like always, PS3 is younger in a sense.

hmmmm, it seems to me like the whole MCE aspect is being missed here, the 360 is "Just a console"? Then how come my parents have 2 of them, one in their lounge and one in their bedroom and both are used daily and neither has ever had a game in (both drives have been disabled :))?

How come mine gets used every day and yet i hardly ever play games any more?

Ill give the PS3 its dues, i have no idea what its like on the multimedia front and its certainly got the potential to beat the 360 on the graphics front.

But to say the 360 is JUST a games console is a bit of a lie, its damn fine retro machine for those without a modded xbox1 or MAME PC + TV too.

Seem to me the PS3 is a lot more polished and easier to use.
Like it matters not like the 360 is hard at all, both pretty easy.

If anyone defines it as hard please never step near an electronic item again.

To me the PS3 seemed no different to the 360, it has wireless and a different UI / online system, plus Blu-Ray.

That's about it nothing to rave about, they are in the same league and always will be.

What games did you play on? I can understand what you mean by touting its multimedia capabilities, but on the games side of things, I wouldn't be quite so ready to lavish praise on the system just yet. However, if you found its games to be very enjoyable, then that's great. The PS3 is only going up and up.

As for the comparisions to the 360, well, the PS3 doesn't have Bioshock. I don't see anything on the PS3 released and unreleased that will touch it anytime soon.

Thats the thing I liked about PS3 when i brought it:D
I brought a 360 core version at launch since all prems were sold out:(Ending up costing me something stupid in total to get hdd/wireless/extra pad/HDlead/Gold membership/

When I brought my PS3 I didn't have to plug stuff on the side of it like a lego block:rolleyes:The only extras I had to buy was a control pad, Since HDMI is used by other things I had a spare.

I don't have a PS3 so I don't know, but you tell me what the '+1' features are other than Blu Ray please? I honestly don't know.

Personally, I don't want a multimedia machine. I want a games console, with good online capabilities and a good games catalogue with lots of good future titles. I have than in my 360.

Microsoft didn't force you to buy the core so you can't exactly complain about not getting all the extra's as you bought the core knowing it didn't have them!

I have a feeling it's the new gadget syndrome. I felt like my PS3 would destroy everything else in existence for the first week or so.
