Congratulations to the winners, excellent photos and scary stuff from Danza.

What is interesting is that for the last two rounds we have had multiple winners of the competition. Does anyone feel the need to introduce a system that if two photos both have the highest score then one should be chosen as a winner? The judges could decide among themselves or the photo with the highest theme score could be the winner.

The scores themselves would obviously stay the same but it would be nice to have a single winner for each round. Comments and suggestions welcome about this.

Only just realised that my image got disqualified, that'll be the last time I use Imageshack. Can't say I was entirely happy with it anyway but its still a bit annoying.

Must agree with the results though fine decision judges.

Grats Danza & TheAlex. Both great shots and deserved wins :) I'm happy with 3rd place :) Thanks to the judges too

EDIT: And I think Xol's idea of choosing an overall winner a good one too :)

Congrats to Danza and TheAlex. :)

I think xolotls idea is a good one, an overall winner is better than joint winners I think.

Congrats to the winners, great shots. :)

Another vote here for 1 overall winner.

Yep, that gets a vote from me too. 1 overall winner, even if scores are the same. Need a way of implementing it now though!

Good work judges, cheers for all your efforts yet again!:)

Maybe if there is two or more winners we can create a poll for us to pick the winner?

congrats to the pair of you :)

and thank-you to the judges for their time in judging.

only one complaint though.. did i really score that lowly i didn't even make it onto the points matrix  :(

Congratulations everyone, there were some stunning entries this month and it made judging them very difficult. Keep up the good work.

The amount of photographic talent we have on OcUK never ceases to amaze me :)

And it then becomes a popularity contest.

There's only one way to ensure there's only one winner and that's for the judges to vote in private on which should win. There's three of them which means no chance of a tie in the event of level-pegging with the scores.

There were some excellent entries this time round, but in my opinion I don't think you could describe danza's photo as abstract - surreal maybe, but not abstract.

Wow, thanks! :D

I've just been out for the first time with my new camera for this months competition, so that's a final reward for my old G3. :)

There were some excellent entries this time round, but in my opinion I don't think you could describe danza's photo as abstract - surreal maybe, but not abstract.
I checked the dictionary definition before I entered:

abstract
1 theoretical rather than physical or concrete.
2 (of art) achieving its effect through colour and shapes rather than attempting to represent recognizable reality.

From that I think Danza's could be considered abstract?

I also agree there should be one winner in future contests. Notice I said 'future'. Just in case... ;)

Then explain how an apple with some scalpel blades sticking out of it is abstract. It's not theorectical, as it's really there, and it's a recognisable object. Granted it's a strange object, but there's no mistaking what it is.

Let me just make it clear right now that I'm not getting at danza. But as I understand it, abstract is a non-representational form of art that uses colour, shape and texture to hint at the subject matter rather than sticking it up there for everyone to see. You're supposed to at least look twice at the artwork before you figure out what it's all about - for want of a better description.

Now, fair play to danza for interpreting the theme as he has and for getting the vote of the judges, but I'm not seeing how that apple is abstract.

how many apples do you see like that, that is not an apple in 'recognisable reality'. you cannot apply the same guidelines to abstract photography as you can with art, because with photography you are capturing reality (unless you have a very posh lens that has a worm hole etc in it).

but then reality, is merely a persons perceptions of the environment isn't it.. so, what is reality and what is abstract..

(see where i'm going with this?)
