Gran Turismo 5 Prologue will be free

I know they will be releasing extra cars n such for download, but does anyone know if these will be for prologue or the full game?

Maybe it's free because they want to test the water with the extra content to see how much money they make from it - this could be the future of gaming :D

A lot of people shelled out £20-odd for GT4:Concept which was along similar lines.

Kudos to Sony for making it free. They could have made a good deal of money out of it without a doubt.

I really enjoy the GT teaser on there at the moment, i know it only has one track, but thats what i like about it, the ability to change setup and see if you can shave anything off your best time is quite compelling, and world wide leaderboards always keep things fresh.

I agree, because it's only one track to kind of forces you to compete with lap times with your mates etc, really cool, was speaking to my mate about it yesterday, he rang me to tell me
that he just got 58th on the leader board with the secound unlocked Mazda with a time of 1:20, quite impressive.

Great news - think the poster above may be right about testing the water with paid for add-ons (more cars and tracks)

Between this, the price cut/added incentives, Home and LBP I think this Xmas will be a huge one for Sony

Now they just need a few really huge releases on BR (with great transfers)and they will be rolling.

GT5 will probably have paid for DLC but i dont think prologue will, like i said before I think PD will class GT5 prologue as a kinda large scale beta test for the proper GT5. I think they want to have as many people as possible trying out new features for prologue to be used in GT5 so it being free will get more people involved.

Gran Turismo 5 Prologue not free afterall? Downloadable and Blu-ray version coming

SCEE today issued a press release regarding Gran Turismo 5 Prologue stating that it will be available in both downloadable and Blu-ray formats towards the end of 2007, followed by the launch of GT 5 in 2008. The fact that it is coming on both PSN and Blu-ray suggests that it will not be free as Gamespot reported a short while ago.

I was thinking this the other day about people who dont have access to broadband wont be able to get the game. So perhaps it will be a BD like on the front of the PS3 mag, think it costs a couple of pounds. I have seen this a few times with PC games though the demo is available free online there is a demo version you can get for a couple of pounds from shops. Just because you may have to pay a small price for the BD version, doesnt mean that you will still have to pay for the Download. Anyway I wouldnt mind paying for it i did for GT4 prologue, that was about £20 and that was half the game GT5 prologue is going to be.

Surely they'll just put it on a DVD?

Would be a huge waste to put it on a BD.

Well with all the TV stuff on there, training videos, race highlights and whatever they put on it i can see it being over a DVD9. There is also not much difference between the cost of pressing a BD disk and a DVD if you have the facilities already so why not.

If they can get it too look as great as the videos running at 1080p-60fps it really shows the power of the PS3 (and Xbox360)

Really amazing to see what fixed hardware and good coding can make a difference compared to a top spec PC

i suspect that it wont be free. but id pay £15 for that kind of content quite willingly.

then buy tekken dark res for like £5 or whatever it is from PSN!!!

OT, if you buy a download game like Tekken 5 or 6 whatever it is, are the load times between fights MINIMAL due to HDD?? thanks

Id of been very surprised if it was FREE particulary as Sony know they made a bundle from the previous Prolouge.

Maybe a lesson was learned, dont delay the full game instead release a large demo and charge for it. Personally i dont mind its the waiting so long on Polys common release date changing is what annoys me more. Although Gabe Newel and the Half Life crowd are getting good at this too.

As i mentioned on the other thread im very wary of this 1080p 60 frames and 16 cars. All of a sudden the PS3 via Polphony have doubled the PS3's power, summits not right?

Im suspecting like in the NTSC version of GT4 this game may be using some form of "pixel doubling" lets face it 1080i on GT4 still had bad jaggies and wasnt full 1920x1080 resolution although it displayed as such. Alternatively like PGR3 actually run at a lower res on the duke and scaled to 720p etc via the hardware.
