Bioshock DX9 vs DX10 benchmarks

How do you get maximum quality? All I see is high in game, no maximum

So whats going on, are the 8800 series faster than the 2900 series in DX10, or is it that NV's DX10 drivers are more mature than ATi's DX10 drivers?

high = maximum.

the ati drivers are not fully optimises for bioshock yet.

ATi are so annoying, EVERYONE blames the drivers if they are performing worse than another card, it's really tedious now.

No, what is annoying is people making stupid statements like "2900 is the new FX series" when the benchmarks clearly show it outperforming an ultra in DX9. Sure it takes a hit in DX10, but the most its behind is 8fps with this gap closing to 2fps, perfectly playable.

People do blame the drivers, but with good reason. As we've seen though, there have been massive gains to be had with drivers from ATI.

Huh, what you lot blabbing about. In DX9 the 2900 has caned the Ultra. Fact of the matter is that the 2900 is the fastest card on the planet for BioShock. Fact. This has been the case in all UE3 games so far and will be the case for UT3 also. The 2900 performance in DX10 is not so good at the moment because ATi DX10 drivers are still attrocious. Fact.

Nvidias DX10 Drivers + Sample time = Nearly 1 Year Old

ATi's DX10 Drivers + Sample time = 4 Month's

ATi still have a long way to go in DX10 but It performs nicely in DX9 as it uses a lot of driver code from the R580. Improvements are still being made but as you can see it's performing well in BioShock.

No they don't, directx9 results for the 8800 series look dodgy as hell. According to those results DX10 is faster then then DX9 and this simply isnt true even in vista.

By 1 frame?!

Here we go, the results are on par with every other BioShock review out there nvidia DX10 performance is around the same as DX9 performance with BioShock. This was shown in the Gamespot Review, this review and the firingsquad review what more proof do you need.

Im gonna wait for the other Ultra/GTX owners to come in here crying :D

The most interesting thing from that set of benchmarks for me was seeing that basically the GTS320 is the effective min spec for this game for people with TFT monitors. Even the 'best-of-the-rest' 1950pro drops under 20fps at 1680x1050, and as low as 25fps in 1280x1024.

Why would they, the game does not OFFICIALLY support AA. When it/if it ever does Im sure they will test it again ;)

either way, its still not tested with AA, so you can say the 2900xt is the fastest WITH NO aa, but you cannot say that its the fastest with AA. and im pretty certain most people play with at least 4x AA.

Yes I can say the 2900 is the fastest playing the game how it was supposed to be played (sound familiar ;)) and that is without AA, the game does not OFFICIALLY support it and from what I have read most people don't play with AA as the performance hit is too much and not worth it. Either way the game doesn't support it and when it/if does OFFICIALLY we won't know which cards are the fastest.

AA is NOT supported properly, it only works in DX9, it's buggy and causes too much of a slowdown due to it been so buggy, so you're wrong when you say people play with at least 4xAA...
