New Nokia N95 classic firmware out today

Do not, I repeat DO NOT! backup your old files/contacts etc after debranding your phone, it will kill it lol, if you get the message: Phone Start-Up Failed. Contact your Retailer.

You will need to do a reset by doing:

Turn your phone off.
Hold in the green call button, the * button and the 3 button.
Still holding in these buttons, turn the phone on, and there you have it.!!

As I just found out, after upgrading to this new software. Poo pants moment, but reset it :D
 
Also found this that may be some help with the menu layout:

After updating your device software to 20.0.015, and restoring your personal data, you can optimise the menu layout by installing the New_Menu_Structure.SIS file. Download and install this file to rearrange your menu layout specifically for SW 20.0.015. Reboot your device to see the menu changes.

Clicky and scroll down to the bottom of the page

nothing, if its branded then the Nokia Software updater won't detect this update thats all.

Every keypress works as it should on mine now. I'm with T-Mobile and the debranding went fine. As soon as I had the new firmware I changed the code back again. Not everything I backed up came back across but when T-Mobile release their version I'll see if I can stick that over the top.

The phone is so much quicker though.

One different thing that I haven't seen mentioned is there is a grid option on the camera now to help you align your shot. Pretty handy!

I think it's the other way around, do not restore a backup you made BEFORE debranding. Basically you have to debrand i.e. change product code, then backup, update then restore.

Just upgraded the wifes phone and now restoring the backup I made 5mins before, It was previously debranded and I restored the original settings after the update and it's perfect.
 
Not that it's ever been brilliant, but last firmware update made the GPS tolerable, and now it seems to be back to godawful again...

LOL. What does it do? Well, I just installed it and all i will say is that if you ever bothered to organise your apps and games and tools etc into folders and moved all your icons wherever you wanted, don't bother installing this. As far as I can see it's
updated some icons,
created some new system folders e.g. 'Music', 'Video Center',
there's a 'Media' folder within the Applications folder
there's now a 'Connectivity' and 'Utilities' within 'Tools'

Giant :confused: from me. I mean, where Bluetooth and Infra Red used to be in 'Tools', IR has now gone to 'Connectivity', and Bluetooth remains in 'Tools' even though if anything it should be in 'Connectivity' too. Which is a pointless addition anyway. I see no benefits of anything whatsoever, and now I have to go and rearrange everything :rolleyes:
 
i tell you one thing that's better, the speed when cycling through the photos (when they are large) has gone through the roof !
 
Yeah, the firmware, the menu thing is weird....but i can live with it, never moved things around before anyway.

Thou Doohuckey you could just restore the back up, then don't need to move things around then.

Why can my update software not detect an update?

I go to update, and it says i have the most up to date firmware :(!
