Hi All

Hope someone can help I've spent about 5 hours on this so far and its doing me in :D

I have Vista Ultimate, and I have Sun Java installed, when I try to go to a Java Enabled site nothing happens, I have uninstalled, and reinstalled from the Sun site more times that I care to remember, by various methods, (online offline install etc)

The Java icon doesn't appear in the system tray or anything.

If I try to open the Sun Java Console nothing happens.

If I run IE as an administrator (right click icon and "Run as administrator") it works, If I don’t use UAC it works.

If I create a new account from scratch - it works
If I use Firefox it works.

But it doesn’t in my user account.

I want UAC ON. So the solution is not “switch it off!”
I use IE mainly so I don’t want to fully switch to Firefox.

Any ideas how to get it working again? It used to be fine and worked ok. Last time it happened I ended up formatting and starting again, which I might do because I think I'll get a Velociraptor.

Anyway - any ideas to get it to work without having elevate privileges.

Appreciate any help

Cheers

Are you using Vista 64bit? If so, most browser plugins are only compatible with the 32bit version of Explorer (you'll notice there are two versions on a Vista 64 install).

Its Vista 32-Bit

I did buy a new hard disk, but after around 4 hours of messing with it I gave up.

I did create a new profile, so that I could use sites with Java.

Thanks
