SDHC Classes?

I was looking into classes before buying my 8gb microsdhc and it seems that nearly all sandisk microsdhc cards are class2 but they seem to run faster

classes are only a guarantee to the minimum speed (I notice a lot of advertising makes u think it's the actual speed of the card) so I think sandisk are just being safe by saying they are class2 (read something about sandisk putting their cards to class2 after a certain date for some reason)

I nearly bought a class4 samsung but read that the sandisk class2 cards were better. Also nearly got a PNY class4 but then read some tests where the PNY class4 ran at class2 :(

I don't use A2SD tho so prob don't matter too much anyway.

Whats A2SD gotta do with the card speed? Am i missing something, surely once the apps are installed most of their time they read, with the writing, even at 2Mb/s being more than fast enough.

Well, just for comparison, my 8GB class 2 Sandisk card comes out at 7.0MB/s write and 14.0MB/s read when I run the SD Card speed test app.

Sandisk 16gb class 2 with a write speed of over 8mb here. Key thing is to buy a good quality card rather than a cheap fast card. Pretty sure that 8mb on a pc reader pretty much equals 2-3 mb in your phone anyway because it's CPU dependant.

I've found a notable difference between the original 4gb class 2 card that came with my Nexus and the 8gb class 6 I have now. For a start the gallery opens up much faster because all pics are stored on the sdcard. I'm the same would be true for video and certain apps stored on the card.
