75% off 3DMark Vantage / 50% off 3DMark 11 on Steam

it is worth buying yes, especially when tweaking cpu and memory as you can just set direct loop of physics tests etc...

Well i Just bought both of them...:)
as am always playing around running all the versions of 3DMark when I do upgrades to my systems to compare the scores to what it was before the upgrade....;)

Do you need to have steam running when you have these on Steam?

Probably not, odds are you can run the .exe directly from the steamapps folder.

I'll install from steam (just purchased 11 and vantage so I don't loose the keys!) shortly and let you know.

Cheers Paul. I will purchase also if I don't need steam running. Nothing worse than going for best bench scores and having bloody steam in the background stopping me getting another 5 points :p

I could never justify spending money on something that tests how good my PC is, why wouldn't you spend that money on games instead and find out yourself? :D

Yes

I closed steam and tried starting 3DMark 11 by clicking on the 3DMarkLauncher and it came up with this

I got 3D11 for free back when they offered the code with a new case.
Just bought Vantage, £3.74...might as well.

I have Steam running whenever i bench anyway, doesn't bother me.

If you don't know how well your PC is working by using a benchmark or two you may not be getting the best out of your games.

Got the same as chaparral, steam has to be running unfortunately, it doesn't even show you the key to use in a non-steam version :(

It shows an upgrade key if you launch 3Dmark 11 and then click on the Help tab

But I don't know if this key would work in the normal downloaded versions of 3Dmark 11..
