A day in Tenerife - what would you do?

Hi all,

I’m going to have a day in Tenerife and as it’s such a popular tourist destination I was wondering what you think is the best way to spend this day?

I have a number of options / tours:

1.) Day trip to El Portilo and then Rock of Mirador
2.) Day trip to the main tourist area (Puerto De La Cruz and then the Botanical gardens)
3.) Day trip to San Andres, Las Teresitas beach and El Baladeiro, the highest point of the island. Finally La Laguna.
4.) Jeep trip to the remote parts of the island
5.) Day trip to the Parrot park

Ideas & opinions considering it will be our first time there?

I would like to see as much of the place as possible so it would be be 3 for me.

I'd think about either hiring a car for the day or hiring a taxi for the day because that way you don't make those 2 x 1hr stops that all coach trips do that put a bit of money in the drivers pocket and a free meal.

Siam water park without a shadow of a doubt. I have been 3 times and its awesome.

Loro park or Siam park or even feed the monkeys at monkey world and then go to Siam park

I'd go back to the Ten Bel resort that I used to go to as a child to see how much has changed, and see if the Alexander's restaurant is still operating to get a steak on the stone.

Maybe a stop to las galletas for a fish lunch if it have time too.
