Will USB work on my mobo ?

hello, i am building my first pc today and i wanted to ask if my mobo usb will work as i have downloaded the drivers and copied then to a usb stick

my mobo is a Z87X-UD3H

You should be able to install your drivers from a usb stick, the usb ports should work fine.

ive heard people say that you need to install drivers before any of the usb ports work, is this true ?

Windows has default drivers which should cover most USB devices.

Not for most modern boards. Your board will work fine as is.

I don't think this has been true for 99% of devices for about 10 years. You'll run into the occasional printer, joystick or more advanced device which doesn't work out of the box, but for simple keyboards/mice/thumb drives etc it's been a long time since I had to install drivers for them to work.

The 1% being a Cyborg RAT mouse. - Love the mouse, but the drivers are always dodgy!
