Removing childs sun cream hand prints from bodywork

Hi all

This is driving me mad!!! My 4yr old has covered various panels on my car with sun cream hand prints.

I have tried various autoglym products, white spirit, meths even brake cleaner and still no good! Please,please, please does anyone have a clue how to get these unsightly marks off?

Tried a clay bar?

If that doesnt work you're going to need an abrasive compound and machine polisher

No I haven't mate. Its almost like its got under the paints laquor! I've even bought some Fenwicks caravan cleaner and used it neat to no avail

It'll come out but you'll need the right kit - if you don't have or know someone with a da/rotary and assuming a clay bar doesn't lift it then its worth paying for someone to do it for you.

Got the same problem with the wife's car and clay bar hasn't sorted it. Would love an answer too.

Depends on what chemicals were in the stuff I suppose and what it's effect on the clear coat will be. You'll probably need a proper detail to solve it.

Problem with sun cream is that its waterproof. Did think of t-cut but I am a bit scared to try it.

Try wiping it down with IPA, seems to shift a lot of crud.

Any alcohol type product will get it off, wet wipes are probably most easily available

I used Meguiar's Ultimate Compound to remove loads of hand prints from a black fiesta.

This is the bane of my Sunday morning car wash as well.

I polish them out with autoglym, but it comes back.

Builders wipes. I recommend the ones made by Everbuild.

You know when you rip one of those horrible stickers off something, and the paper rips and leaves a nasty adhesive behind? These wipes take it off in seconds...

If a panel wipe doesn't work I expect something more abrasive by hand will help. I'd give Meguiars Scratch X 2.0 a go and work it in well. Should do the job.

Right I have purchased a tube of Farecla G3 paste. Will give it a go and report back

Try a cloth with a little DW40 on it. It works for tar and all sorts. You'll just need to wash the panel afterwards and re-apply any polish/wax. Farecla also do a paint detox cleaner which is pretty good.

Worth warming it up with a hair dryer or something first then wiping down with IPA or similar? (no idea if this is a good idea or not or will even do anything).

G3 on a rotary, I removed the same yesterday on a friends car

They can be polished out, though with a rotary polisher. Chips Away got rid of a few hand prints on my car for me for free, though I did get a rear bumper fixed at the same time.
