GTA V GTX 980 stuttering.

FYI, you will run out of grunt before you hit the vram wall.

At least thats the experience with my 970. I have plenty of VRAM in the tank to notch up the settings, but the Vrrroooommm isnt there.

Why are people going on about 3.5 gb's when he's on a 980 not a 970?

60 fps isn't possible for me with it properly maxed, more like 30-40.

New rubbish to tout. The 980 stutters once 3.5GB is breached.

Am at 1440p all settings highest apart from msaa is off. And keep frame rate in the 70/80 range most the time. Hardly seen it from below 60fps.

Just been into a busy scene and its super smooth for me. I've turned everything up apart from AO and AA and not touched the top two on the Advanced Graphics.

I am using msaax4 on a 780 and dont get stutter at all. Might just be a 980 driver thing?

More like an isolated case, unless more around the forum suffer from the issue.

Running 1440p 5930K @ 4.5 2x 980s

Everything very high
Tessellation on High
MSAA 4X

Advanced Settings
Everything Maxed

Average 61-72fps Lowest ive seen is 55fps but im using gsync

currently uploading a videos of it maxed (uncompressed not on youtube either)

turning MSAA from 4x to 2X = average 70-80fps lowest of 62

Well.... Mmmmmmm... not sure about this......

Switched mouse from Raw to direct....

No stutter...... at all.

using Geforce experience settings

Just done 3 hours, 2 races, missions and story... no stutter.... nothing

Also a solid 60 fps... no drops at all

I didn't switch Vsync off as the screen tear was really bad....

so then troops

Over to you to discuss why this has worked....

Gfe turns off msaa and puts on fxaa doing this I gain 30fps at least

That's most likely why

I've tested a lot of the settings

Msaa
Tellesation
Both cost a lot of fps drop

Advanced setting section seem to make no effect on fps for me

I am really supprised at how well this runs with all the settings cranked up on my 970, however I have seen my system memory usage at 11GB after a couple of hours .....I do have Samsung magician running in rapid mode.

It seems to do what bf4 used to do dump vram into system ram from time to time slowly increasing your system ram till its full seen 20gb of 32gb here

Or their a leak somewhere

Well that was a false flag as it is back.

It like the graphics slow down and then speed up to catch up to where they should be.
It must be my set up. But so annoying and massively disappointing that it is just this game, the one I built my rig for.
