Hi

Does anybody know if there is a different kind of technology in the old widescreen 16.9 flat screened sony trinitrons and the even older standard 4.3 ones

I just picked up a neo geo and while i am on the hunt for a nice 4.3 crt i decided to connected it to an old trinitron from our garage which happens to be a widescreen one like this

While it looks better than my LCD it still doesn't look like i remembered or had hoped. Its like this widescreen trinitron is like a hd crt or something, it doesn't have the arcade type look i expected. Is there a different technology in these things? will it look better on an old 4.3 Trinity , its not just the aspect ratio i don't like its the overall image.

Can't you change the aspect ration on the TV to 4:3? That looks like a Trinitron and not a Wega set. Wega's do a lot of processing to the image which can effect the look of the image.

Ideally you want a 4:3 Trinitron if your going consumer. I have 3 broadcast monitors which give a ridiculously good picture for retro consoles. Only downside is they really only go upto around the 20" screen size although a couple of the older Sony PVMs go upto 29".

How are you connecting you neo geo to the TV?
