PS4 turns itself off from rest mode or am I going crazy

I swear in the evenings I turn my PS4 from on to rest mode, but the next day when I come to start it up it is "properly off" not "rest mode off". Is this some new 'feature' from a update that it can only be in rest mode for a few hours or something?

Not that I'm aware of. Anything in the error log in the settings?

Don't think it's a feature, but it's happened to
mine in the past. Not every time, it's just random.
I don't leave it in test mode anymore though, unless it's updating and it's during the day/evening. Not overnight

When you turn it back on does it complain that it hasn't been turned off properly?

Could it be something to do with the touch sensitive buttons and changes in temperature? perhaps as the plastic creaks it's registering as a button press... just a thought but I've heard of this happening with touch sensitive buttons.

it doesn't complain that I turned it off properly, no. It might well be the buttons activating themselves, but the room it is in is generally quite warm all the time
