The Shadow of War Bench.

That won't take into account overclocking.

It wasn't ever supposed to be lol
He only ever does out the box performance.
Even the Vega GPUs can gain a lot more if he downclocked and boosted the power limit.
Just like GTX can gain more.

If anything NVidia do much better out the box, amd vega needs tweaking.
So both GPUs can gain a lot more here

GPU clock 1658Mhz
Memory 1251MHz
Boost 1797MHz
GTX 1080
Intel i7 6700k 4.2GHz
Driver 385.41
2560x1080

Not sure if this is correct but the bench didn't run full screen, but the game does?

Just thrashed the living daylights out of my TitanXPs

6950X @4.4
TitanXP @2076/3102

Maybe I am doing something wrong but the above was on a different PC to the one that houses my ordinary TitanPs.

Kaap for gaming benches why doing you give in and get a second PC with a 4/8 core setup. You are letting yourself down tbh as with 5.0ghz or more you would top most of this under water. You could be master of them all lol. You gotta think out side the box for both games and power benches. Surprised you go for the max when max is not the fastest in games. Still send me one of your best for pointing this out. Pretty sure your bank balance will love you a bit.

In all serious though most games love those megahertz up until 4k where it evens out some.

Disclaimer it's Saturday night so i might be talking some BS.

My next build will clock higher than any of my current PCs but it won't be a 4/8 core setup.;)

I'd concur with that, unless you could show me what difference 5GHz makes compared to 4.4GHz? My understanding is that it's minimal in the majority of cases, but more than happy to be proved wrong.

It is almost non existent for gaming once you get over 4.0ghz.

It does not take much effort for any modern CPU to deliver 60fps.

Where you do notice the CPU clockspeed is in synthetic benches where the fps are massively high.

You would also notice it if you were using a 144htz monitor as some games do benefit from a good CPU OC once the fps gets over 100.

So it appears i already have the texture pack installed so my score is valid. :)

I am thinking that may be the case. Looking through the bench, it seems to me that the limitation seems to be for me at least on the CPU running at near 100% utilisation on 1 core.

Would be curious to see how other's CPU loads look like in use, but think this may be the case as looking at Kaap's 1440p Titan Xp (assuming this is the full fat 2017 version) score at even slightly higher clocks then Robzere's 1080Ti score is still a notch behind overall. Expect the CPU here is playing a role here.

Not the CPU

If it was I would be getting the same fps at 1080p as I do at 1440p.:)

If you don't have the Gold Content or the DLC showing in Steam, then you don't have the texture pack as far as i know.

Here is a run with my CPU only running @4.0

I have used 1440p but with low settings to push up the fps

As you can see there is not a problem with the CPU keeping up with fps.

See I have run this multiple times and cannot seem to tease out an answer, at 3440 x 1440 or may be just my system, for the benchmark run only a few seconds of it is GPU bound, the rest of the time one of the CPU core's is bouncing off 100% according to monitoring tools. So I went ahead and lopped 600 Mhz off my overclock from 4.6 Ghz to 4 Ghz and the end score dropped from an average of 89 FPS on runs to 84 FPS on runs, not significant, but it was consistent across a few runs with GPU clocks remaining the same. Will try a few more tests later, but may be a sign that Haswell-E is getting old and time to upgrade to a new shiny :p

I wasn't just reffering to the extra MHZ. Loads of reviews have shown that the best gaming cpu for numbers alone is the 7770k. It might be changed now but lower cores and higher mhz pushes those few extra fps out. Hard to judge though as Kaap has some great hardware. It also looks like he is going to get something along the lines of a 8700k to see what's what. That's my guess on his next cpu :D:D:D:D:D

This is what Steam should look like if you have the HQ Texture Pack installed, it shows as a separate item.

I have a new score.

[email protected]
Vega 64 1812/1100Mhz
Crimson 17.10.1
3440x1440

Tip for Vega users, enable as much high bandwidth cache as you can, and keep running the bench. Your score will got up 1-2 FPS each time and by the third/fourth run, you should peak and get your highest score as i did above.

Thought I would give this a run for fun.

Do you have the HQ Texture pack installed?
