Hi all,

Looking for a spec for a gaming pc up to a max of £1500 although prefer around £1300. No monitor/kb/mouse/os required.

I don't have a preference around intel/amd but won't be replacing it for a few years so edging towards AMD due to their promise to support AM4 until 2020.

Thanks

Here is a spec with an R5 2600 and 1080 ti.

Case is personal pref so you might want something else. The cooler is optional. If you are not overclocking to the max then the stock one is pretty good.

My basket at Overclockers UK:

Total: £1,526.93 (includes shipping: £14.10)

There is also this bundle deal if you are not bothered about having an X370 chipset instead of X470.

Cooler in my spec would do fine to drop the price. Same goes for the SSD. No real difference in most day to day with an NVMe. You might get a couple of seconds off windows boot etc but not really much of a difference.

The 1080 ti is also faster than the Vega 64, although if you plan on going for a Freesync screen then it is a good option.

I would swap out the gpu, cooler and psu for the ones below.

The EVGA is £30 cheaper and they have good warranty support. Pretty sure there is also a rep on the forum too.

The H7 is a bit more expensive but has a 120mm fan instead of 92mm. Might be a touch quieter.

Also a modular psu will make cable management a bit easier. Either the Bitfenix Whisper or Seasonic Focus are fine.

So overall the cost should be around the same (£2 more to be exact) when you factor in the cheaper gpu, but you are getting a better cooler and fully modular psu.

Personally this is the most important thing to influence the choice, I can heartily recommend the X470-F motherboard and save a few £’s with the 2700 as opposed to the 2700X as both are unlocked.

Make sure you go with the fastest memory you can afford, but beyond 3600Mhz isn’t generally supported. TeamGroup do a nice RGB kit that is ASUS Aura sync compatible and their 16GB 3000Mhz kit is on sale at £159.

Unless your going for a high overclock then stick with a good Air cooler as long as the case has good airflow.
