Hi,

Current build is having major issues (I suspect the motherboard), so time for an upgrade:

- Core i5-3570K CPU
- P8Z77 (Socket 1155)
- 16GB DDR3 2133MHz
- MSI Radeon R9 270X Gaming Edition OC 2048MB GDDR5 PCI-Express Graphics Card

I've been out of the hardware game for so long, I'm completely clueless now.

I don't game 'much' these days, I mainly use this PC for work (Visual Studio).

I think I'll stick with the current graphics card, but I do need a new cpu/motherboard/memory. I usually stick with Intel but I've no idea if they're still 'top'.

Can anyone advise please? Thanks :)

Just standard web projects, nothing fancy.

I've order the above (thanks) - delivery tomorrow :)

Quick question: My old build had a "Hydro Series H60 High Performance Liquid CPU Cooler" - can I use this on the new AMD cpu?

According to the Corsair website the AMD mounting bracket for the cooler should work fine.

If not then the stock cooler should suffice, AMD stock coolers are far better than intel's.

Damn it - missed that!

Decent cooler recommendations? :p

My basket at Overclockers UK:
Total: £65.87 (includes shipping: £9.90)

Intel would have had the edge if compiler couldn't use multi threads due to faster core and stronger IPC

If you do a search for Corsair Hydro Series H60 AMD AM4 mounting kit you can get a bracket for your current cooler for just under a tenner. Mounting on AMD doesn't look like it needs a backplate as it appears to fix to the retention bracket on the board.
