Has anyone else encountered issues running PCI Gen 2 or 3 on the Phanteks GPU riser with a 1080Ti?

If I enable Gen2 or 3 then the BIOS gets stuck in a reboot loop most of the time. If it does make it to Windows then the screen will blink to black on occasion. Games and graphic benchmarks stutter like crazy and produce about 25% of the normal FPS performance.

The same card has been fine since Dec 2017 when directly mounted to the motherboard (Gigabyte Z370 Gaming 7) in Gen 3.

It seems stable in Gen1.1 mode though. Wondering if I have a bad riser or it's just an inherent (PCI Gen1.1) limitation of this particular riser.

If you look around on some of the Phanteks forums, you will find threads with similar complaints (I believe prominently from the Shift case). You may indeed have a bad riser cable.

Mind you in saying that there are also similar complaints from Thermaltake cases that come with a riser cable. Now they offer a premium riser cable separately.....

I really like the look of a vertically mounted GPU though.
