Hello all.

I hope I am posting in the correct area,apologies if not.

I’m after some advice on what components I can use for my son’s new pc.
He will be using it mainly for games like Fortnite. He won’t be using a 4K screen, just full HD at the maximum.
I’ve haven’t built a pc for a while and I’m a little rusty, so I’d appreciate a bit of advice/suggestions.
This is what I have come up with so far:-
Processor –AMD FX 8350
M/board Asus M5A 78L-M plus/USB3.
(I have seen the processor & m/boards on eBay as a bundle, it looks like a good combination.)
Cooler - NOCTUA NH-U14S ?
SSD 512 GB , O/S & DDR3 Ram(already have)

I’m struggling with choosing a psu , case & especially GPU
Any help would be greatly appreciated

If you have not already bought the FX 8350 setup then don't it's really poor value, unless they are selling it for about £40 including the board.

Tell us the budget you are working to, for all the parts you need and you'll get better help for your requirements.

Sell the DDR3 RAM for about £50, and use the difference for a better CPU, PSU or Case. With that Graphics card he'll be able to play anything at 1080P High/Ultra settings, and you get nearly £120 worth of free (and good) games with it presently.

There will be many variations on this theme, I am sure of that, but it is a great starting point.

The Ryzen CPUs don't get very hot at all with out of the box settings, the included cooler is fine as long as you have a case can or two.

Pay a bit more for the mobo, by time you add £50-60 WiFi card of the same level... could have gotten a better board etc
