Guys, is the asus X370-F STRIX better than the msi B450 tomahawk MB?

The one listed in this bundle?

It has a stronger VRM than the Tomahawk but it is a £158 board. You could probably do better for a similar price if buying things individually. The R7 1700 for example is currently the same price as the R5 2600. If you can make use of the extra cores then it is an attractive cpu for the money.

Also X370 might need a bios update to run the R5 2600 depending on how old the bios version is.

I will only be using it for gaming, nothing multi core demanding really.

If you are happy to stick with the 6 core R5 2600 then the Tomahawk or one of the Gigabyte B450 makes more sense.

Both of these are out of stock at the moment. Slightly over £100 on here but you get UK RMA and Gigabyte rep support on the forum (GIGA-Man).

My basket at Overclockers UK:
Total: £226.08 (includes shipping: £11.10)

I got the last B450 Pro they had in stock yesterday along with a 2600X, 16gb team group 3000mhz ddr4 and a 480gb team group ssd. Missed the delivery today so hopefully will get it tomorrow!

So which one would be the better board then, the MSI tomahawk or gigabyte?

I would have got the MSI had they been in stock. I jumped on the gigabyte as didn't know how long really the msi boards would be and didn't want to lose out on the black Friday deals on the other parts (and didn't want to wait an age for the board to come)

Hope the Tomahawk B450 is better than the B350 I've got. Mine is wildly unstable with pretty mild CPU and RAM overclocks. Probably just my bull in a china-shop OC style though.

Does anyone have any update on those boards? I'm still waiting for my order (which includes the b450 carbon ac) and my most recent email from OCUK says they're expecting to despatch my items on Friday, 16th of November...Even though the email itself was sent on the 22nd :confused:
