55" TV Recommendations

Hi,

Can anyone recommend a 55" TV which will be used for Xbox, Movies & TV (I have a htpc so not bothered about smart stuff)

My budget is around £700 but would like a 5 year warranty.

I was looking at the 55NU8000 but are either out of stock or prices have increased.
My second choice was the Hisense 55U7A but again are either out of stock or only available from places with 1 year warranty.

I was very happy with my 55" XE70 from Sony, current model seems to be around £700 as well, but not 5Y warranty.

I got an nu8002 on Thursday, 799 euros, and delighted with it, not sure why I would spend 3times on a premium TV, law of diminishing returns I think, great for the money. I brought in Europe however.

Costco have a Toshiba oled for £849 if you can stretch to it.

I was about to say this. I appreciate the budget is £700, but the rain forest and richer sounds have both had OLED's in lately under £1000. They have 5 year warranty as standard.

Cheers for the replies, OLED's do look good with HD video but watching my brothers B8 OLED I was'nt a fan especially on bops4 the input lag was quite high.

I've ordered the 55u7a from Amazon but if I change my mind JL have the nu8000 back in stock.

not a clue mate, does the B8 not auto detect a console is connected? ... I thought most tv's do this.

Nope, you need to set it manually, like most TVs they come with a lot of "image enhancing" settings turned on by default. On Game mode the LG OLEDs have very low input lag.

it also depends on what your brother has tweaked that input such as a custom profile etc.

You can also plug the console directly into the TV instead of the AVR (if you have one) and set the HDMI port to Game console. This further reduces input lag, on top of game mode.

My 4 year old Sony has died so I'm looking for a 55" replacement, is the Samsung UE55NU8000 the best I can get around the £750 mark? I see this model mentioned in the OP and considering my woes after only 4 years having bought the last TV from Amazon, the Richer Sounds 6 year warranty appeals to me.

With 100 pounds saving over the Samsung offering, I'd take it.

The Panasonic TX-55 FXN 738 can be bought from German stores.

Almost pulled the trigger, and I see there is a Samsung costing £180 less. What's the difference between these 2 for £180? All I can see is HDR10+ v HDR1000. Isn't that just marketing?

Oh, how did I miss the gaming advantages of the 8400! Out of interest, and not a deal breaker, is the VRR compatible with Nvidia cards does anyone know?
