The Radeon VII Owners Thread

I'm running MorePowerVII_77 but everything is set to stock, so I'm assuming it makes no difference.
The more power ones increase the watt limit from 250 to 500 and the soc and amps so all you do is set the the core mhz and it does the rest naturally as the limits do not throttle and crash you
I use the evenmorepowervii_1344+++ not using anything just setting the core higher because it allows it as I mentioned.

Humm, that changes a lot, gonna try now. But wait, "so all you do is set the the core mhz and it does the rest naturally", you mean, you don't even set gpu voltage?

EDIT

Nah, did not work for me. 2100MHz with 1250mV or 1280mV is a no go.

That's too high for 2100 try 1180mv, also last tip is move the minimum and max core sliders to the same place.

That won't work but I'll try the sliders thingy in the night.
I was increasing gpu core/voltage as needed when FS was showing artifacts or so, normal oc routine. 1950mhz for example I'm doing with 1100mv. 2000mhz is around 1150v.

Or this is a very bad chip or is faulty which I don't think it is, or at least I cannot say is faulty just cause I cant go further than 2075mhz.

I think all the cards will vary in the silicone lottery, mine would do 2100mhz but 2125mhz anything over and it would crash the driver no matter how many MV was used, yet my HBM2 would do 1325mhz all day long, 1340mhz would show some sparkles.
like all things if you push them to the edge after a time they will deteriate and once easy 2100mhz becomes not so easy as the life span of the core is pushed to far. some have reported that pushing to far has also increased the stock voltage above what they once had.

Its nice to find the limits but keep pushing it can in the end spoil what was once a sweet card, or CPU for that matter, both work in the same way. i had a northwood extreme once, great chip. would clock like crazy under phase change. ran it for 6 months overclocked solid as a rock.
went back into clocking it and pushing it to its once limit it never reached the same over clock again, it had deteriated over that 6 months of sitting at its life's edge.

@Illuminist

Sorted my temp problem :o

Discovered that the Linux driver was reading just the one temp(Junction) . After a updated patch now reads both + mem temps.

Only query I have is what is the "junction" temp, is that the GPU to interposer temps ?

Yeah Matt, that all is right, for any chip. It's just a matter of benchs, I just would like to beat some Brazilian guys in a forum (I'm Italo-Brazilian it's not about xenophobia)..

Well, I'm going to settle around 1950mhz 1100mv daily as my JT is hoovering around 60-70 in that range.

try this, take mem to 1200 set core voltage to 1.500mv set power to +6% and let the core boost itself, some times it will boost higher on its own. and your temps should be lower.

A little cable management and tidying up left to do but pretty much there!

Welcome and on TROH.:)
