PCIe 4 and 40 PCIe lanes for a start. VRMs are likely to be better all round because vendors will have confidence in Ryzen now so no need to skimp, plus even with the 7nm process for Zen 2 slashing power, we could have 16 core CPUs on AM4 so power delivery will need to handle it.

what will x570 offer that the current AM4 boards dont offer.
Possibly all PCIe v4.0 speed lanes, which isn't really usefull for normal home users.
And at least some current motherboards should be capable to PCIe v4.0 speed in slots connected to CPU.

Likely no more garbage CPU VRMs, like in Asus X470 TUF.
Though can't exclude Asus still putting crap VRM into some marketing BS model.
And there might not be much of affordable models.

We don't know yet further if Zen2 is going to have some feature which won't be available in current AM4 motherboards.
AMD improved boosting of clocks speeds with Precision Boost 2 and XFR2 with Zen+ and X470/B450 mobo.
Though not sure if there's any need to improve in those.

B450 Strix E if you can find it
X470 MSI Carbon
X470 Aorus 7 at £200+

or just wait for X570 and £120 gets you a board prob equal or near Aorus 7 and miles better then the rest - Prob Gaming X X570 will have £130-40 tag

they have a B450 Strix at the rainforest (F edition) note sure the difference between E&F
B450-F is total garbage.
X264 encoding with stock 2700X rises its VRM to overheating limit.
Because VRM itself is weak hot running crap and then marketroids even sabotaged its cooling with that retarded IO cover.
B450-E has same retarded IO cover, but VRM itself is beefier and capable to higher output.

Unless funds are extremely tight, this close to release of a significant improvement in performance could be a mistake. If you really must have something now then the MSI Pro Carbon does look decent for the money.

About Asus, I may upset few people, but I must be honest and agree with you.
Unless you pay more than you would pay for other manufacturers, Asus isn't value for money.
I, personally, don't really like the looks of most MSI boards, but the Gigabyte looks nice IMO.
Resources-wise, both MSI and Gigabyte would offer pretty good boards, costing less than similar-spec Asus.
Asrock have some good boards too.
But if you like the looks of the Asus boards, still, don't go to the entry-mid levels.
As other mentioned, the new AM4 boards are nearly there, so even if you don't go for one for now, that would allow the actual X470-based board's prices to drop, before stocks disappear.
