I bought a QPAD MK85 a few years ago, and although a nice rugged keyboard it had issues with occasional key repeating on random keys, often wouldn't allow getting into bios on startup - some sort of firmware bug or bios clash - so splashed out on a Corsair K70 RGB a while back.

Now I'm having the issue that a lot of others are reporting - weak key caps so I've broken off a few, mainly left side gaming keys (shift, ctrl, a, s, x etc). I've actually been putting caps off the QPad on to replace them which although look different work fine.

However, the spacing on the bottom row of keys on the K70 isn't the same, so can't swap all the keys over.

Been looking at a replacement key cap set now, but most seem to be standard size rather than "corsair size". Anybody know of a good replacement cap set of the K70?

Alternatively if I put the money towards a new good quality keyboard, what's a good basic model? Not too fussed over RGB to be honest although a backlight would be nice, as would a usb pass through or two for mouse etc. Any suggestions?

My first mechanical keyboard was a Filco Majestouch-2, which was a nice keyboard, but I eventually decided I really wanted a white backlight, so I bought a CODE keyboard. The nice thing about the CODE keyboard is that it’s very customisable and you can have one built to order. It’s also worth finding a store where you can try different keyboard switches, or buy one of those Cherry keyboard switch samplers, which is what I did. The Filco had Cherry MX Brown switches. I found they bottomed out a bit too easily, so I specified Cherry MX Clear switches for the CODE keyboard. I much prefer the Cherry MX Clear switches for typing, although they’re not as good for gaming (it takes noticeably more pressure to hold down the ‘W’ key on the CODE keyboard than on the Filco keyboard).
