I have gone the whole hog - put new discs and calipers on - the Greenstuff pads have only been on 9 months so kept them - On a trip to take the old caliper back for deposit I tried brakes a few times and smooth as silk - no judder at all - Said to bloke in Auto shop if I come in again for anything brake related refuse to serve me. I have not messed with brakes since early 80's and don't intend to again till 2080s.

That happened to me when I replaced the rear callipers on my car.

It’s a fine line between tight and snapped on a little bleed nipple. I also watched my boss snap my 7mm spanner trying to remove a bleed nipple on a different set of brakes.
That's quite impressive that the nipple didn't snap! I'm not sure what would be best, although I'd imagine steel nipples are better than aluminium ones.

Mine that had snapped off were steel. Alloy ones must be like warm butter. - anyway 9mm nipples are really way to small - the 11mm on rear take some breaking.
