Yes you can have the button "unassigned" so pressing it will not do anything.

It's odd that it's so expensive when you see the G402 down at £18 quite frequently, which is its spiritual successor for me, and has been my chosen replacement.

The 402 is nothing like the 518. Neither is the 502. But yeah, the new 518 is overpriced.
