Is your RX 480 struggling to run Apex Legends smoothly? I have the RX 580 and it runs the game completely maxed out and it's very quick & smooth... Albeit only at 1080p at the moment (144hz monitor with freesync).

It running it ok but it is a old card now an i'm not taking advantage of my monitor 144htz as my card wont run it at 144htz i'm running apex at 1440p

Personally wouldn’t get a Vega now. They are near EOL, and won’t break the 100fps barrier. This article shows different benches on Apex for different cards. It recommends a 2080 at your level, so I’d say a decent 2070 super or 5700XT is the sensible choice.

Cant afford nvidia I've always gone for amd for cost think nvidia are better but way overpriced that card I linked was in the 5700XT category

With your 2700X, something like a 2070 Super will give decent frames at 1440 ultra. I've a 3600 and 2070 Super, average is probably about 100fps at those settings.

No sense at all getting a Vega 64 at this stage. The 2060 Super is around the same price and much better overall.

Or the 5700XT either. What you've linked is Vega 64, much older card, hotter, performs way below a 5700XT too for a similar price.

I personally found my 5700XT a pain, tons of driver issues with certain games. It'll be a much better card in a few months, when they release 3rd party models and drivers improve, but right now it's not ideal for two reasons - a) blower style cooler is weak and b) drivers need to mature for the new architecture.

There's no point buying a Vega 64 card though really, unless you for some reason absolutely need an AMD card but don't want to deal with potential headaches of the 5700XT/blower style cooler.

5700XT or RTX2060 Super in that price range are the options.

Don't I need a amd card as I've got freesync monitor

I'm looking at around £400-£500 as budget

You also don't need AMD, unless you specifically want freesync. Some freesync monitors do support gsync, but I would take raw performance over ability to use either.

If you want AMD I'd just wait for a few weeks unless you release the proper 3rd party 5700XT cards. The only ones you can get right now are reference models which are not very good.

Also like I said I've got 8gb of DDR4 at 1200mhz is it safe to put in another 8gb at a different MHz like 2400mhz or do you have to run same MHz
