What a genius idea

Bill Gates backing plan to stop climate change by blocking out the sun

It sounds like a wacky idea out of science fiction - but it’s backed in part by billionaire Microsoft founder Bill Gates and top scientists from Harvard.

The researchers believe that a fleet of specially designed aircraft could spray sulfate particles into the lower stratosphere to cool down our planet and offset the effects of climate change.

A test of the technology has been proposed for this year, the Daily Mail reports, with the Stratospheric Controlled Perturbation Experiment (SCoPEx) seeing a bag of carbonate dust released into the atmosphere 12 miles up.

If that experiment proves successful, the researchers will move on to releasing the dust from planes.

The researchers suggest that jets flying 12 miles up would complete over 60,000 missions in 15 years, starting with a fleet of eight and moving up to 100 planes.

What could possibly go wrong with pumping lots of chemicals into the atmosphere in order to block the sun in order to prevent globalwarmingclimatechange ?

It's not like we didn't reach this point by pumping lots of chemicals into the atmosphere (allegedly)

Well the world is failing to come to a conclusion on resolving the issue, so we're left with massively expensive and probably fatal geo-engineering projects, that's just the risk with being ****** and not acting sooner. :)

Governments aren't really interested. How many new build houses do you see with entire roofs made from solar tiles/panels, battery storage, triple glazing, tax breaks, incentives etc etc......

recycle your cardboard and pay 5p for plastic bags lol

cost too high though boohoo, erm, the planets dying but whatever

The sooner people start to wake up to the idea that rather preventing it (been too little, too late for years) we should learn to live with the mess we've created, the better

How about spending the trillions we do on booting 4 shades of shoot out of each other we fund a crash program into fusion power, if we can make it work we solve all of the worlds power requirements and stop a lot of crap going into the air as well.

That could **** off young Greta as she sails across the Atlantic to avoid leaving contrails in the sky.
