Has fortnite evolved enough to make a 7790 useless?

i know the 7790 was a decent card in its day, but I was nearly about to buy an R7 250 1gb off fb then figured I could get a 7790/7750 for similar or less from a shop, but would either cope with fortnite?

r7 250 < 7750/250X < 7770 < 7790 < 260X < 7850


One of my kids played on a 7850 for a long time with no issues 1080P/60fps.

I wouldn't bother with anything less than a 260x 2GB/7850 2GB - you'd save so little cash vs extra performance.

Even a 7870 can be had for £35 these days, which is still a fairly capable 1080P card.

You can pick up 7900 series cards for under £50 second hand, a 7950 is still a competent 1080p card even now for most titles.

i dont play fortnite on pc, but i see console version changing all the time which is why i wondered about pc to ask the question not to mention i have plenty capable computer/laptop to not worry, i also know there are better cards out there, but this would be for a 10 year old who may or may not want to play the game on pc, he plays xbox all the time, just i know its a cross platform game, also im looking at some old computer with a 2nd/3rd gen i3 or something from amd, so other than an ssd, the gpu would be the only upgrade ideally, so a card low powered, but enough to run the game and cheap is what im after.

the monitor i gave him is some old 19" thats like 1600x900 i think, so low demand.

he uses a laptop that has the pentium silver n5000 with igp which is what im going from as he mostly plays roblox on it, he doesnt have options for anything else right now.

It's only the map/weapons that change, the game engine hasn't really changed much since release as far as I'm aware
