You managed to capture it better than I did but yeah, that's the sound mine is making. I have no other issues with the card but I just know it's going to annoy me totally. I do quite a lot of work late at night with more or less zero environmental noise so I'm always going to hear it. I just don't want to be "THAT" customer!! But then again £450 is still a lot if money to spend and not be happy

Yeah mines just went away, but at start I thought it was coming from the PSU for me. Is it a new build?

So i am only playing one game at the moment, Classic WOW. Originally on older drivers i had annoying screen freeze and then black screen which would happen 2-3 times when first launching and then settle and play normal. 50% of the time when i got screen freeze i had to hard restart the pc. But atleast i knew that if the pc survived the screen freeze that the game would then not crash for the rest of the play through.

Anyway. This seems to have been resolved by the latest driver update, but now i am getting system lock ups and random restarts while gaming, can be after 5 minutes, 30 minutes an hour, or any time between, totally random seems to increase if i have a youtube video playing in the background which i often do.

Really losing my patience with this graphics card.

Did you install any third party app like MSI afterburner?

I caved, ordered a Nitro + to replace my 4 year old 970. Only paired with a 6600K @4.2 for the moment, but gaming at 1440p 144hz it was really struggling.

My Gigabyte G1 970 is only marginally smaller, but so far I'm liking the Radeon and Trixx software.

I'm running Superflower Leadex III 650W and zero coil whine, the 970 used to whine a lot, possibly old caps after 4 years?

So update:

OCUK agreed to accept my original Red Devil back so I ordered another. Well I still have this annoying hiss whenever I do anything, even now, when the DRAFT SAVED box flashes up in the bottom right hand corner it makes this hiss. I am sat in a quiet room, my fans are near silent so yes I can pick it out easy, playing games . . can't hear it. The thing is, it is there and I have had a few other people come listen just to make sure I'm not losing my mind. Even though I have the Superflower 1000W Plat I'm now even looking at buying another PSU just to eliminate mine as being the cause. Just opening the start menu and moving the mouse over the tiles causes the hiss. I have tried all I can with the kit I have, stripped my pc, disconnected everything, tested it with the mobo out of the case, different ram, multiple formats, bios flash's MOBO, all the Radeon drivers I can find, even different keyboard & mouse.

I must stress, it is not a loud noise, it's not like Stress Test Coil Whine, it's a sudden "HISSSS" and it's damn annoying as I can pick it out now every time.

I even stuck my old 1070 AMP EXTREME in and everything was silent.

I'm at a loss and it's a shame as I am really liking the card. If I knew others also did it I could relax with it but everyone else says they hear no such noise.

What to do :(

Well, I'm now running the Sapphire 5700XT Nitro and the noise that was bugging me so much has gone. OCUK have been exceptional and allowed me to return both Red Devils as unwanted and covered shipping. So far performance wise there is no difference between the Nitro and the Red Devil. The only issue I have now is using Trixx boost, I set the scaling to 90% with RIS on, the Res it then says use in game is 2304 x 1296.The problem I'm having is my Dell won't display a full screen pic at any resolution lower than 1440p. I've tried GPU scaling etc but nothing works. It was like this on my Red Devil, I used to play Metro on my 2060 at 1080p so when I started the game on my 5700 the game was mapping on my screen at 1080p and the rest is just black. It worked fine with the 2060

You can get them direct from AMD, come in at £440 delivered, so not too bad. Really want to know if they have binned the chips or just tweaked the limits on an unbinned chip. If its not binned then ill just grab this one https://www.overclockers.co.uk/powe...ddr6-pci-express-graphics-card-gx-198-pc.html as seems to be the cheapest around, and as they are all refence designs shouldn't be any differences between them.
I would like to know too. If not I’ll be getting the sapphire with 3 year warranty just to be different.

Yeah I nearly ordered one when I saw the first price then they added the vat when I hit checkout :( So now im on the fence, have to spend another £160 on water block and backplate(But that's the same with whatever card I go with), would be nice if AMD actually stated if its binned or just tweaked standard gpu!
Anniversary edition for less than ocuk selling the standard edition ‍♂️.

I’d just use the back plate that’s on the card. Is amdmatt still about? Maybe he knows if it is binned. I don’t really want to be paying 440 for all that gold poop I can add that poop with a gold marker for £2

Are they legally enforceable or just the usual scare tactic to put people off? Because surely it's against consumer rights laws?
I asked amd, this is their reply

Response and Service Request History:

Thank you for the email.

Yes, any modifications to the stock graphic card will void the warranty on the graphic card.

The limited warranty shall not apply to your product if unauthorized attempts to open, alter, repair or modify the product or software, unauthorized attempts to remove or alter original identification markings, operation outside of the specifications.

Thank you for contacting AMD.

In order to update this service request, please respond, leaving the service request reference intact.

AMD Global Customer Care

Not happy with the reply as I made clear and also put the exact same link as the script reader that I have read the t&c and it was not clear about removing cooler as this is not modding or altering the product, it’s not quite opening too.

I say we all spam amd to let us watercool #they can’t block us all

Edit he said “Yes, any modifications to the stock graphic card will void the warranty on the graphic card.” nothing about removing the cooler. Get out of jail free card?

Warranty void stickers are not enforceable in the states and I recon they would have a hard time doing it here too. Did you buy direct from AMD or a partner blower card?

Not brought one yet, but I’m very close to getting sapphire from ocuk for the warranty and cooler removal or the ae for the binned chip and gold paperweight.

I had a quick google and could not find anything that says these stickers are unenforceable in the uk. But amd aren’t clear in their t&c, fitting a waterblock is not a mortification or opening “the card” well my interpretation is “the card” is the board and the cooler is attached to the board. If they didt want people taking the cooler off the should patent a security screw
