Got a bit of a strange question for you guys..

I just bought this card second hand for an absolute bargain and it works perfectly, but the power limit seems pretty low.

With everything at stock, Afterburner shows throttling and I can see it go to up 100%. Even when I max the slider to 120% I still get the popup warning that the limit has been reached.

Is this normal with this card due to the form factor?

Is there any way around it?

Yeah it is I had one. It mentions the power in reviews if you look for them.
The cooler on it is awful. Goes to 80c+

However put it under water or an AIO/CLC and watch it fly! Temps around 50-60c.

Sorry just realised 1080 - I had the 1080ti but probably same thing applies.

The 1070 mini however is a beast the cooler seems to tame it better.

Well, it actually came fitted withan EK Thermosphere, but the ports are so close to the edge of the card that I can't use my compression fittings.

I have an idea though.. ;)

For now it seems happy to run at 2000Mhz undervolted at 0.950v with 120% power target.

Undervolting definitely reduces the power draw and stops it throttling.

Never seen any warnings on mine.

It can hit 83 but I had a look in firestorm and that's the default temperature for 100% fans to kick in.

But no, no power limit warnings.

Really?

When you do a heaven benchmark, how much petcentage of the power target are you reaching?

Ah well that's the thing, been a while since I ran that. Moved it over from my old rig this during the past week or so.

If i get chance this weekend i'll get it downloaded and get back to you.

Don't sweat it too much, I'm sure it will be pretty similar results to mine..
