Kodi Stutter

Hi,

I've noticed a slight stutter when watching my own collection of films (no internet streaming) on Kodi on my Windows 10 PC.

The film will randomly pause itself and play itself suddenly every few minutes.

These are films that I have stored on my local hard drives.

This has only started happening over the last 2 days.

I really can't work out what the problem could be.

The YouTube Kodi app has also started doing this too.

[EDIT] I've tried disconnecting our wireless and bluetooth remote controls but the problem still occurs.

Do you get the stutter while playing the films through VLC Player and not Kodi?

For what you are doing I would use Plex or even better Emby, better library's and if you like Kodi so much Emby do 2 plug-ins for it one of which Emby basically becomes the skin for Kodi so you are not opening Kodi then Emby.

I don't get this problem on VLC.

If you don’t get it playing VLC then it’s kodi at fault. Why I don’t know but I would remove kodi and install it with default settings.

If you use the latter method I mentioned above, Emby and Prime etc will all be there in Kodi.

Certain videos? high bitrate?

Could try adjusting the buffer settings: https://kodi.wiki/view/HOW-TO:Modify_the_video_cache

There is a setting within Kodi that lets you "sync playback to display" - might be the issue as I've encountered the same minor stuttering and then ticked this option and it's fixed it?

I've reinstalled the Kodi software and this seems to have resolved the issue.

I haven't tried the other steps but I will in the future.
