About time they acknowledge the strix issue in particular,

i cant believe they still have the audacity to charge highly inflated prices for a garbage product.

Nothing to do with Asus, its AMDs fault :p

But, according to ASUS themselves, it's not quite the quality control issue some thought it to be. Thanks to a post on their ROG website, and kudos to Mark of Overclock3d.net, we learn that the problem occurred due to following AMD's guidelines for mounting pressure on the RX 5700 Series of graphics cards. AMD apparently recommended between 30-40 PSI, but after gathering the complaints and going back to testing ASUS found the optimal pressure to be between 50-70 PSI for their ROG Strix cards

they obviously must have tested the thermals and decided they were satisfactory in the design phase to release it. so how can that be amd's fault? or am i missing something.

Poor excuse from Asus. The entire cooler wasn't adequately attached. ASUS messed up. Can extra pressure help? Yes. But had they attached their weighty cooler correctly in the first place, it wouldn't have been an issue.

And here we go with the clueless Verge article "
AMD graphics cards are allegedly overheating because the screws are too loose"

Good grief. Totally misrepresentation of what actually happened, and completely ignoring ASUS is the culprit.

I actually just submitted a complaint on the article because it was that bad. Didnt even use the offending products image. Just lapped up the press notice with clear cluelessness.

It is still a big joke. The cooler was even pulling away from the thermal pads. How could they even claim such a thing. Their design and implementation wasnt wasnt able to hold the recommended pressure, that is the problem. Their solution is a band aid to bad design.

1.5 KG cooler... What did they think would happen with all that weight.

Note that Asus has since changed the wording on their release and removed the graph.
