Wheelie bin gone missing - how avoid paying replacement charge?

As title, someone pinched my bin, I don't think I should have to pay for a replacement with council tax charged being so high. How do I get a new bin and weasel out of paying the replacement charge?

Report it as crime it’s theft then ring the council with a crime number and that should work.

it’s what I did when mine was stolen and I never paid.

I've had the same issue, the council replaced it no charge. I suspect if I did it again they'd probably charge.

Wife's parents bin did that (mother in law witnessed it) and rang council, they said they'd check the cctv footage (all bin lorries in our local area have this) but if it doesn't show the bin going into the wagon then she'd have to pay for a replacement, came 2 days later and dropped them a new bin off so I guess it showed.

When they were first introduced loads of people on our street keep robbing other houses bins but I got my mate who runs a sign shop to run me of some numbers I attached to mine so it's never gone 'walkabout'.

Whoever is trying to charge you for a bin is probably nicking bins and selling them.

Ours goes walkies often, we usually find it at the corner of the close near the OTHER number 5. But we've had free replacements once or twice. Just takes ages.

Our council will just send you a new one if you havnt had one before.
Our general waste bins are way too small so you could have two if one was to go "missing"
