Website scam / help

Hi guys,

I know been a while since posted but don't know where to ask, you guys are good at this and i need serious help

My good friend and his girl got done for 10k, so need help from the ever impressive detectives. Please help.

As per my friend (its taken from steam so sorry for formatting, doing what i can):

"last year she invested in a renewable energy company
10k
spoke to the guy on the phone, saw their website, they were on company house gov website etc
ended up transferiring the money to them, they gave a certificate for the bond etc
even phoned them in february and said all was ok
and now suddenly guy wont answer phone, website is like, gone, and emails bounce back
literately like she thinks shes been scammed

The website is http://www.gfsrenewableenergy.com/ obviously doesnt work

They are on different websites, but http://www.companiesintheuk.co.uk have that as their website and the same email address my friend used, but no other 'company' website, such as companies house have their contact details

It's my best friend and his soon to be wife and 10k deep, can you guys help dig deeper or point me further?

What do we look for? any recourse? what can i do?

In all likelihood there’s nothing they can do at this stage - the scammers have probably already done a runner and it’ll be a waste of time for them to pursue.

Although looking at companies house - GFS Renewable Energy Ltd seems to be a legit entity.

Who was the payment made to?

I can’t believe people still fall for these kind of scams

I will double check the exact name as that appears one thing my friend didnt give me after looking over now

It appears all legit from companies board but everything else appaers less than that

I understand people fall forthis, it appears my mate did his best due diligence but not enough, he is also doing this for his that for her but maybe didnt know bettter

I think the most your friend can do is report this to authorities in UK and the bank. Possibly the authorities in the country the money was paid to.

But chances of seeing a penny back are basically zero. It’ll be long gone by now

Looks like the company name they used is a holding company - scammers took advantage of this and created a website in the same name.

It is a legit company. The link you posted in the OP says that somebody has been impersonating the company. GFS Renewable Energy Ltd probably know nothing about it and the money was never sent to them.

Why do people not know that this sort of thing is a scam. Stick to proper investments and not a get rich quick schem...scam
