Hi guys

I'm looking for a bit of advice for a new laptop. I've been on Mac for the last 5 years for work but am looking at moving to PC mainly due to how much quicker docker is on linux (when I tested on an old decrepit laptop).

Gaming isn't a major thing but would be a nice to have. Would be happy to use an external GPU but again I'm not looking for gaming just a decent laptop. I want something pretty quick and not overly noisy fans. It would be sat on my desk most of the time but obviously be able to take it out with me.

I've been looking at the new XPS 15 which looks good and definitely more than adequate for the job. Though feels a bit pricey spec'd up. Also looked a few of the Asus laptops.

Being a mac guy for last few years I'm not overly sure what I should be looking for these days.

If this sounds a bit of a cheeky ask I apologise

Thanks

Thanks I'll take a look. What are the benefits of Ryzen apart from cost?

Performance and power consumption.

I've just got my lad a zephyrus with a ryzen 7 4800H and in multicored tasks it's on par or better than my I7-9700K.

So that's a mobile amd chip besting an intel desktop chip.
